Man United to finish fourth and Aston Villia to finish eighth, that is a big call, the rest I think you are spot on.

I saw Burnley, Stoke, Sunderland, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool all play preseason and from TV and live form I think this is how it will turnout. Burnley were shit when I saw them here in portland first team couldn't beat a USL league team 2-2 draw if they stay up it will be a hell of a feat. Sunderland im iffy on they might be alot higher than I think...

    1. Chelsea (Should comfortably win the title)
    2. Liverpool (A weaker Liverpool team but still good)
    3. Man Utd (I don't know what Sir Alex is trying to prove but this team is much weaker and has a poor midfield for this caliber of a team. Still an amazing defense, but it won't be enough)
    4. Man City (More of a hopeful guess. Not so much that they will be great as Arsenal will be bad)
    5. Arsenal (See ya Wenger. This group of youngsters are garbage. Will be interesting to see where he coaches next)
    6. Aston Villa (Martin O'Neil is a great manager that has built an excellent team of youngsters. He'll be coaching one of the big guns pretty soon)
    7. Everton (David Moyes is a great manager and Everton is always consistent)

    8 - 17 whoever

    18. Birmingham
    19. Hull
    20. Burnley

Tevez and Ronaldo scored 40 goals for United last season. Owen Obertan and Vlaencia are not gonna make that up,

Liverpool are gonna miss Alonso too much and rely on Gerrard and Torres too much - they are screwed if they get injured.

Chelsea are my tip this year, they have kept their best players and look like they have amanager who knows what he is doing

A lot depends on the form of players like Berbatov and Owen. Between them they're very capable of scoring 40 goals between them. Add a possible increase from a centrally played Rooney and I can see Fergie's logic behind it all.

To say that replacing the goals Ronaldo and Tevez scored will be the undoing of United would be a very simplistic way of looking at it. With Valencia being a more hard working, conventional winger, it's safe to say the forwards may well get better, more direct service, and in defence we'll have more cover, leading to a possible lower conncession rate.

Being more successful isn't simply about looking for ways to score more goals. An effective game plan and a robust tactical set-up are about more than replacing out-going goal scorers.

I agree that United are going to miss Ronaldo and ideally I'd like to see a "marquee" signing but it's not going to happen. We still have the best defence in the country, and Wayne Rooney.

I also agree that, upon first glance, Chelsea are the team to beat this term closely followed by Utd and Liverpool.

Oh, and we have John O'Shea. Be afraid. Be very afraid............... :p:cool:

    Agree on both points.

Bobby is just about the best soccer commentator in the US TV market.

Now what the hell was he thinking?

They are also players 3-5 years away from being players that would actually play a large part in winning trophies. Until then, good luck with Song and Djourou.

Has the Premier League ever started with 10 teams winning and 10 losing? It was odd to look at the table and see either 3 points or no points for every team.

    Can't resist.

I predict Arsenal to scoop the EPL trophy in this season. Chelsea is a weaker side, they only just beat Hull in regulation time this first match. Manchester United too were lucky over Birmingham. Liverpool FC were defeated by the Hotspurs, so it could be an open year for other clubs. Manchester City to finish runners up, bronze place is kinda harder to call.

I don't think that this weekends results or performances are indicative of what we can expect this season.

The only surprise is that Tottenham actually got a win against anyone, nevermind against Liverpool. Don't they usually start with a stinker?

I've changed my mind about City, having watched at the weekend. I don't think they'll break the top 4 this year. I was wholly underwhelmed by their team, despite all the money they've spent this summer.

Chelsea and United were slow to start but both got the required points, which I think was important. Both did what you expect them to do. Without playing particularly well, both won potential bannana skin-ties.

still not impressed with united but I really couldn’t believe how they squeaked so many games last year even with ron. what I see is a 4th place squad. still, sir alex’s record in the prem is 11 firsts, 3 seconds, and 3 thirds. and two of those thirds were versus those powerhouse gunners and blues squads. I leave man u in the 2 only because of ferguson. he knows how to get one-nils where other better squads get draws. and because no one yet looks dominant this year. arsenal will surprise everybody but they still have too many maturity, depth, injury issues. I think I was wrong about the spurs. Never really seen Harry with anything except a midtable to relegateable squad barring the too young but ridiculously talented west ham days. I’m moving spurs into the 4. dropping pool (you have such little faith in your bench that you have to leave skrtel in when he can’t turn his head?) from 4 to 5 and sliding everton behind man city. villa look atrocious. o’neill has a lot to correct. he’s a good manager but I’m skeptical. everton looked atrocious as well but I just can’t see everton finishing lower than an 8 with moyes in charge. west ham, fulham, stoke, sunderland, and maybe wigan are toss ups for the 8th through 12. blackburn looks safe from relegation but not much else. impressed with birmingham. curious about how they play midtable/poor squads. wasn’t really that impressed with hull but still think that they get better as they go with new signings. have a feeling about burnley. they hung in there with stoke despite stoke being much better squad and at britannia. we’ll see. thinking bolton is bad. had them out of drop zone really just out of pedigree. Wolves maybe better than they showed vs west ham but unless Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is messiah like, they at least have a long year. Pompey even worse than I thought. I really feel for fratton faithful. seems terribly unfair

That was the first weekend of Premier League football you've ever seen, wasn't it?

Actually, that's gotta be a troll. Liverpool FC were defeated by the Hotspurs? No one is that stupid.
