The issue of women in games in general.

Wasn't ACIII:Liberation also brought to PS3 and X360? Subpar, yes, but ported to more than just that one.
That seems a bit of a stretch ... so what if they don't make the protagonist be female? Who cares what their reasons are? Just make a good game, full stop.

Are people really up in arms because the "flag" in the new R6 was a woman? Wasn't it like alpha in-game footage? Whoop-dee-doo, doesn't mean that the final release will be that way.
What would you consider "token"? Lara Croft? Samus Aran? Faith Connors? Cortana? Alyx Vance? Sergeant Calhoun?

Ok, that last one isn't technically in a game, at least not one we can buy in real life.

Faith Connors and Lara Croft are huge outliers.
Anyway, I don't see the issue with criticizing a long-standing franchise for having almost exclusively male protagonists. They still get to make the creative choices that they want to make. Which they likely will.

But you didn't answer my question ... who are these token female characters you speak of?

The busty, scantily-clad women from fighting games or RPGs? The damsel in distress wholly reliant on a man to save the day? None of them are the main, lead character in a game, afaik. Hell, most games with male leads are shallow anyway. I've provided a list of at least 4 women who are strong characters in well-loved, long standing franchises.

Maybe it goes back to the "taboo" of showing women dying in popular media.

Ubisoft made a game called Beyond Good and Evil that had a female protagonist. It didn't do well and they aren't keen to repeat that situation.

Anyway, I tried out the street luge demo on Sony's Project Morpheus.

Positives: It didn't make me want to vomit like the Oculus Rift.
Framerate was smooth and there was little-to-no pixelation in the center.

However, the overall display feels a bit like how handheld screens use to look before the PS Vita, 3DSs, and the original iPad-- a little washed out, a little less lit, a little blurry. And cars at the bottom of the track would fade into existence all of a sudden as if the visibility was set shorter than your range of vision. So instead of closing in on just one car ahead of you and trying to maneuver around it, all of a sudden you're also having to dodge a second car coming at you that wasn't there a second ago.

    But man, it was fun.

the first one was terrible, couldn't even get through half the game with those controls. I beat the second one and was not impressed one bit

The trend from this E3 that I hope continues to grow is the one where the viewing public at home gets games to try out and play. Microsoft announced two bits of DLC that were available the day of their press conference, Sony released a game on the day of theirs too, heck even Nintendo planned to to have Smash Bros. demo stations available across the country around E3. The best thing though was the Battlefield Hardline beta going live the day of EA's press conference and the Destiny first look alpha going out to the public. I bet there were plenty of game demos at E3 that were clean enough for the public to play. Even if they weren't incredibly polished like Destinys (which it is, wow very pretty) the public that pays attention to E3 knows what would be released as a demo isn't the finished product. Or at least I hope they do.

Did anyone see, hear, or read anyone ask Hello Games if they had an estimate when No Man's Sky will be released? Cause I haven't seen anything.

I don't think it is wrong or out of boredom to point out that a HUGE majority of protagonist in video games are white males. Just like it isn't wrong or out of boredom to point out that there is a HUGE majority of games that are shooters.

i don't give a flying ******** who the protagonist is in a game. As if being male or female will grant you some special powers. People like to make mountains out of molehills

If you don't care, why are you railing against those who do? If you don't care then the push by people to add some diversity when it comes to the lead character shouldn't bother you.

its annoying to see people making demands and condemning a company because they don't like something as minuscule as having some female lead, its not a big deal yet they make it seem like its the end of the ********ing world

But why make something diverse just for diversity's sake?

Problem, as I see it, is that some Ubisoft exec opened his pie-hole and said how difficult it'd be to do animations, etc for a female character, and something about limited resources (I'm paraphrasing), when Ubisoft had something like TEN studios working on Unity. Then it also comes out that a female lead in Unity was considered at one point, but decided against ... who knows why, though.
