Sounded like we defended like the US today. Did Ching step up and play tonight. I am sure it has been a tough week for him watching the guys in South Africa.
No, but based on the pre-match thread, many are probably "exhausted" from watching too much soccer today and thus cannot post. I however, will do so. 1) Tonite was a microcosm of our season and our likely fate this season - played well enough to win but defensive lapses force us to take 1 point instead of 3. Which is why we may be watching the playoffs on TV instead of participating in them. 2) I thought Cruz gave us good energy - a great goal and in the 2nd half when we fell back into a series of 5 lateral/back passes then a route one prayer ball offense, he took the ball and ran at guys to make things happen. Make fun of his lack of tactics and maybe savvy, but he's got skills that Dom can work with and effort is outstanding. 3) Landin - DNP - Coach's Decision. 4) ERob was not bad except for the turnover that led to the first goal. 5) Is it me or does Onstad just not look as sharp this season? He kind of pulled out of going for the ball at Casey's feet (partly I assume because he saw a recovering ERob coming) and got stuck in no-man's land. The defense isn't helping, but it seems like he's not reading the action like he once did. 6) Ngwenya actually looked good, with a better touch than I remember him having. Nice goal. 7) When Colorado fell back deep defensively, we had no imagination or ideas on attacking them. That was disturbing. I have no idea where this team will actually finish in the standings. At times we look like we have the parts to maybe win a first round series, other times I can see us finishing 10-12th in the league/
I could only hear it on the radio (couldn't go to Da Rob) and it sounded as if Cruz was our most dangerous player. Care to elaborate anybody? Oh wait, I did see the highlights later on the web. WTF is wrong with Robinson? Infantile giveaway on the 1st goal. Considering it was 1-2 I'll take the tie. Good to see Ngwenya get one. We need help on the D bad.
this is getting dicey-it's going to be an interesting stretch run. There are some HUGE matches that you can pencil in right now. That Seattle match at Quest and the Philly (we have to take 3 pts on the road to make up for the debacle over here) are looking specifically huge. this is all so new to me with 16 teams-MLS playoffs used to be joke with everyone making it, not any more.
As a neutral, I enjoyed myself. Still amazed by that shot off both posts that managed not to go over the line.
Erob is finished;hate to say it but true WTF is OTP Ashe doing starting in front of BM LP was shocking PO is also past his sell by date we need to see Hall NOW Oduro shoots from inside the 18 and nearly hits the corner flag, classic High Points CRuz Ching Joe Bos But we cannot keep playing 6 or 7 against 11
This game just proved one thing to me. We aren't going to be making the playoffs this year. Feel free to bump this thread if they some how luck into them but I doubt it. Losing Clark and Holden was tough enough but then losing Cameron? Too many defensive lapses. Onstad frankly has been a shadow of his stellar form that we've been used to. Teams don't fear us anymore. We lack ideas in the final third. And Westside said it best because I said it during the match to the guy next to me. This match was a microcosm of our entire season.
he got flattened by Casey earlier in the half and did not appear to recover after that...he was on the ground for at least a minute and a half...that was not the only giveaway he had...for the life of me I don't know how Casey finished the game without a card...he flattened at least three people tonight...
I love Erob always have but since the knee injury he is not the same player, sad but true. Dk got it badly wrong tonight with OTP in front of Bm them DO over LL i'm just glad they did not run at cochrane that could have been really bad for the orange
great question. is e-rob out of it? if so then the dynamo must get another central defender like, now.
Do we need Cameron to recuperate fast or what... That would help. Oh well... at least it's far from over. The FO and The Dom have to look at how they can fix HDs shortcomings while there's time.
It should have been two scored against E-Rob when he faltered at the end of the 1st half. Looked like his body is failing him.
Mostly I just want Davis out of the "attacking midfield" spot because he simply doesn't attack. Not only did he not lead the attack last night, but he wasn't even making trailing runs to support the attack.
I agree with dadcoachref, erob was doing good until he got taken out by Casey, which was one of the several reds he should have had. And like others said, Cruz was the best player I think, but when he gets down to the corner sometimes it seems like he runs out of ideas. It's sort of like his body is faster than his brain sometimes. He's gonna be fantastic, though, and I'm glad he's on our team. Joe did well too, and I wasn't too excited about him coming back. I know this won't surprise my friends, but I was disappointed Landín didn't play and shocked that Oduro and Cochrane did. I just don't see not playing Landín, he has more talent and creativity than the rest of the team combined.
1) Cruz was our best player last night 2) Even with Erob's ailing body I cringed when Cochrane stepped on the field...Waston anyone? 3) Pat looked shaky once again... 4) Landin must have been saved for Miami on Tuesday...he would have made more sense as a sub than Oduro last night...Colorado was bunkering and Oduro's speed gave us no advantage when he came in... 5) I also would like to see Davis back on the left (MLS teams know what Corey is going to do every time)...Qeuvedo anyone? 6) Palmer has disappeared...Obodai anyone?
We are having to use an early sub almost every other game for E Rob. We can't afford to do that, but we also can't afford to start Cochrane when we don't have to. Cochrane was the only player on the squad that managed to look bad against Aguila, maybe we need to pull the trigger on Waston. What is going on with Serioux btw? He isn't the greatest option but I have to rate him higher than Cochrane at this moment. It may not have been the greatest game, but coming off of 3 straight losses a draw is a step in the right direction. I am glad I drug myself to this game, it did wonders to wash the taste of Ghana's unmentionables out of my mouth.
This tie felt like a loss to me. I can't even describe the feeling of emptiness I experienced driving back home. I REALLY don't want to write anything negative about the great DYNAMO guys who brought us two championships. I just can't. I love the old team. HOWEVER, I do hope that Dom (or somebody, in case Dom is as stupid sentimental towards the old team as I am) brings in new blood very soon. Where's that Argentinean midfildier? overpriced? After World Cup losses by my team and my friend's teams (US, England, Mexico), this is going to be a sad soccer week. Yeah, I love to mess with my mexican friends about their bad team, but I was hoping Mexico'd defeat the nation of "white people who happen to live in latin america". Sorry, mexican friends. Mexico played a great game! __________________ Funny moment in my soccer day: I always find it cheering to read Kei Kamara's twitters. After his now famous MISS OF THE CENTURY, I remember him writing something like "I am a big african man, not a baby". So, this is what he posted today. I'm not trying to engage you on whether your suggestions are better or not.. It is instead this point: Since DK has to decide these things BEFORE the game, why is it meaningful to evaluate those decisions based on what happens in the game? If those that played earned their time during training shouldn't they play? Isn't it only meaningful to evaluate his selection decisions based on information available to DK before the game, not the information available to you a few hours later?
With Joseph starting now and Landin getting no time, when will Landin's last day be in a Dynamo uniform?
eh guys, we have 3 games in 6 days. pretty sure we will see all 5 forwards this week plus everyone else.
I would have to agree with pretty much every comment here, not only me but also did the Colorado Players, they also see a weaker Dynamo. Couple of questions to Claudio Lopez, Omar Cummings, Conor Casey, Brian Ching, Boswell and Dominic Oduro. Has anyone heard anything from Quevedo or Waston? because OTP is not fit to lace Mullens boots 1. BM more effort at both ends of the park 2. team player 3. never say die attitude i understand he is not a 90 minute man right now (nor is davis) but please ashe over mullen no thanks I assume in training when there are no defenders other than cones ashe manages to get the crooses above cone height?
