Not too mention you are talking about walking out on an . . . away game?

Were the SG's planning on making a big show at the HDC v. Chivas or to KC?

If so, just cancel those trips....go to another game and all is well.

On a serious note, throwing stuff on the field is totally unacceptable and if those individuals have received 1/2 season or full season bans it seems a little unfair to attack SG's for the actions of all individuals in the Dynamo fans section.

As for the smoke bombs/flares, I would hope that the Houston SG's and the front office can work out deals so that they can be used in the new stadium. Further, I hope that an agreement can be reached where they can also be used in visiting stadiums that allow it. Maybe it will need to be coordinated with the FO? Probably not an ideal situation, but maybe it would be sufficient with MLS HQ and sufficient for the SG's.

I think it's important to note the commentary abouve the letter on the MLS site, especially this quote:

I find issue with the MLS making this a public matter and singling out the Dynamo supporters for something other support groups do. Where are their letters? Why only publish the letter to the Dynamo fans for all to see?

The MLS can't even follow their own DP or salary cap rules, how to they expect the fans to follow their stadium rules.

    This.

I've seen this happening at every MLS game on tv. Obscene gestures in DC, smoke bombs in Chicago and Toronto, cussing being heard over the tv mic in NY and LA. Why single out our supporters?

    Re: You guys saw this?

dang it, didn't want to get dragged into this mess. :D

i'm not saying it didn't happen. i was saying that i've been an away fan at many, many games in a couple different countries on a couple different continents and those midwestern folks in KC were downright hospitable as far as away fans go. it was unfair to portray the scene as being overly hostile.

i was jumped in LA in 2006, the group in Seattle had to have an escort to our hotel because we were followed by the home fans, i survived Hilbrow at night (twice) and at Pachuca the police threw us in the 'paddy wagon' for our protection. :D hey, its all part of being an away fan.....

ps - the English neo-nazis with their visible SS and swatsika tattoos blocking the steps of the Kölner Dom and not letting us through during the 2006 World Cup game between England & Sweden. now that pissed me off!

pps - good luck to the SGs. hope it gets resolved. i'm sure it will get resolved.

My opinion? And it is only an opinion. Things being thrown on the field during the Cup on national TV aimed at the league's"biggest stars" is the primary reason for this being a public sanction. All of the smoke and flares would likely have been overlooked or resulting in a stern talking too - but the items on the filed they couldn't/didn't want to ignore.

Because your fans threw smoke bombs on the pitch and flashlights at players in front of national tv in the most important game of the year.

Pretty simple to figure out actually. If your fans would have avoided throwing heavy objects at players and kept the smoke bombs in the stands, the league would have turned a blind eye to the other shinanigans as they do time and time again with other supporter groups. Your fans pushed the envelope too far however and they had to include all rule violations as part of their report...

I think this action is a result of sour grapes from KC owners as they had to take the bitter taste of us celebrating their defeat in their own glorious and shiny new stadium. LA Galaxatives think that they are superior to everyone else and 'how dare another team's fan base take over a part of their stadium?'.

Personally, I don't think smoke bombs are necessary and many other people don't feel like the benefit of smokebombs (atmosphere / celebration of team) outweigh the negative effects of smokebombs (respiratory health hazard to those nearby in the stands and interference of play on the field / health and performance hazard to the players on the field).

I'd like to find out what the players prefer...

All the games I've attended I've NEVER seen a Dynamo Fan throw a smoke bomb out of the stands. Smoke bombs have been tossed out of the stands by the security staff to put them out.

If that is the case, then MLS blatantly lied in their report and findings about what occured the the MLS finals (not just any regular season game).

    a. multiple illegal smoke bombs were brought into the stadium, ignited and thrown onto the field
    b. various objects that presented a safety risk thrown onto the field in the direction of players and stadium personnel

I have heard from numerous sources the objects thrown on the pitch were flashlights targeted at Beckham and Donovan.

If you are saying the MLS is flat out lying, then that is another topic all in itself. If the findings are accurate however and your fans did throw heavy objects at players and threw smoke bombs on the pitch as said by MLS in their report, then you guys backed the league into a corner where they were forced to take some kind of action...

At MLS Cup, there were some smoke sticks thrown out onto the pitch after the game had ended.

    Re: You guys saw this?

Don't get me wrong, I love being an away fan! That's an experience everybody should go through. However, I for one can just smile and say a witty remark, but I didn't like the fact some of my fellow orange clad fans got hurt. Eh, that's me, I'm used to get insulted or made fun of.

Had that release not stated obscene gestures then I wouldn't have brought it up again. Uniform punishment is all I'm asking for. I do not support the throwing of objects, other than streamers, onto the field.

    PS

Pachuca treated y'all like welcomed guests, so don't complain about that F.O. lol :D

I thought it was their IQ.

My dad used to tell me the story of the time the Oilers were on Monday Night Football. This was the early 80s when they sucked. They were getting blown out at the Astrodome. So the cameraman pans the mostly empty stands and stops to zoom in on one fan sitting in a section all by himself looking dejected. The guy gives the one finger salute to the camera. The announcer(Can't remember if this was still Howard Cossell) without missing a beat says "There's a guy who really thinks his team is number one."

Weird. After the Dynamo game in Pachuca on 9/16/09, my father and I walked a mile or so from the stadium back to the Holiday Inn in full Dynamo gear with no problems whatsoever.

    Re: You guys saw this?

the 2007 CCL game happened in the middle of Easter week. since its a traditional week long holiday and a lot of people head or the hills the Pachuca F.O. decided to open the doors (for free) to all their fans.

2 hours before gametime they closed those said doors because there were already 35,000+ in the stadium. the majority of Pachuca fans were pleasant, but just like everywhere else there was the .01% asshole factor that wanted to tear us apart. well, specifically Bandido. :D for some reason they had it in for him.

Well, it hasn't been that great, here's the gist:

Dynamo have no fans because they don't call sports talk shows.

    Soccer fans are violent

Dynamo fans should be embarrassed because obscenities and gestures never happen at 'American' sporting events.

They threw 'pipe' bombs onto the field in LA.

He may be using sarcasm, but he's clearly clueless.
