Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant I can't decide if that's a really ugly stadium or a really cool looking stadium. It sort of looks like it just landed there.

Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant What proposed stadium is that? I don't recognize it.
Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant That's not that bad in my opinion. We could get really drunk and hang from those tubular beams on the roof. hahaha
Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant Or get the water hose working and you can just slide down (to your death) the giant silver things.
Ok, now I know what it reminds me of, it's like a giant pan of Jiffy Pop popcorn, and we would all be cooking like popcorn inside of it during an August afternoon.
Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant that design is ment to reflect all the hate from the two franchises across from 59. Not to mention the bullets from passerbyes.
Re: Dynamo Stadium News VIII: TSU Agrees to Become Tenant Just close your eyes and imagine the sparks flying off those walls...

the thing that slays me is that RBA is on the side of the River that all the bodies from Newark wash up on. talk about f$%^ing creepy...makes tailgating a little more interesting. But I doubt there will be much tailgating-the PATH stop in on the corner across the street from the stadium.
Keep in mind that Red Bull Arena is part of a major redevelopment project for the area (Chester Stadium for the Philly Union will be as well). Thus, the plan is that there are going to be a ton of bars and restaurants surrounding the stadium in years to come. It won't be like going to Giants Stadium where you have no other option but to tailgate if you arrive early for the game. It'll be more the old Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park where the sports draw helps local business.
I don't think bars in an urban redevelopment program area will be charging that. Bad business for an area that's already troubled and bad business for Red Bull. New York is an awesome city. But I'm from Boston originally...so the Yankees suck.
Here's a really interesting discussion with Gino Rossetti, whose firm was responsible for the HDC, Toyota Park, and Rio Tinto, as well as the new stadiums for the Union and Red Bulls. Conversations in Soccer - Gino Rossetti of Rossetti Architects Conversations in Soccer - Gino Rossetti of Rossetti Architects Part 2 Here's an early rendering for the HDC:
Here are some recent aerial photos of Union Field in Chester. Just for informational sake, they broke ground on Dec. 1, 2008 but actual construction started in late January or February of 2009. They don't expect the stadium to open until July 2010 but that fits with the normal 18 month construction timeline.
And, if you missed it earlier, here's a slide show of the RBA construction in progress: Red Bull Arena
Definitely going to try and make the roadie to NY next season. Wow. Still need to hit up Toronto and Seattle too. Come on job with Continental.
droooool... Here's a video on RBA from the Guardian: A first look at New York's first ever 'soccer-specific stadium' - As construction continues, we take a look inside Red Bull Arena near New York City
Here's an article about the new stadium in Allen ISD, which costs about $60 million. Obviously, the Dynamo stadium won't have some of the components that this facility will have, but it's still interesting to see what sort of stadium they're building for $60 million: Rivals: Texas school set to begin work on $60M stadium There's a slide show with some renditions.
