I wonder if Dominic is grooming Moloi to play Seriox's spot.

The good thing about Wondo is that he scores - he just needs to get a little more size to keep from getting pushed around like Freddy did last night.

Dalglish is a step up over Moreno (no disrespect - he has a heart of gold) because he can take a guy on the dribble and bring it to goal.

Actually it's Hutton's second reserve match. He played the first home reserve game after Wells received a red in an away reserve game.

If you mean Serioux's spot as a central defender, I doubt it. If you mean as backup to Ricardo Clark, that could be. Although Moloi seems to have quite a way to go, he isn't that great on tackles and winning the ball. His strength seems to be helping the team to transition from defense to offense, knowing where to pass it and being fairly comfortable dribbling in tight space. If the team loses Serioux in the offseason to Toronto (or wherever), I would think that a backup to Ricardo would still be a priority in the draft or trade market. I don't see anyone else who is close to ready to play there next year if Rico gets hurt.

On Wondo, I agree. I wonder if he wouldn't really be a better fit at wing, where he has some space to work. According to other reports I've read, that's where he played most of last year. He seems to be learning the "back to the goal" physical play, and he's a good finisher. But he also seems to be good when he has some space to dribble and take guys on.

Thank you for the in-depth update on the game. I always appreciate it since I can't make it out to reserve matches on Sunday morning.

Actually I thought it was funny when a bnch of us at the game were talking about Wondo-as we thought the game was 1-1 (we all missed the first goal in the 4th minute) and we stated how Wondo is "King of the Reserves" and that we needed a banner for it-when his mother who was sitting in front of us , corrected us and informed us that he actually had two goals. that was pretty funny.

Wondo's mom probably called the Chron to make sure that he got some press. ;)

Here are some shots I took at the reserve match last Sunday. Let me know if you like them.

If you don't go to reserve matches, you need to add them to your schedule. They're a LOT of fun.

The San Jac men's soccer team is scheduled to play the Dynamo reserves on Sunday, Oct. 15. The schedule has the game at San Jac in Pasadena, but I understand that there's been at least some discussion about moving the game. If anyone has any updates, please let us know here.

Notice they're wearing solid orange in the reserve game. That would be nice for regular games too.

Too bad they lost the last game, they were having a good run after their first 2 games. And Wondo just keeps on scoring....13 goals in 12 games. Add in his goal against Chicago, and his goal in the MLS Cup game against Dallas, and he's got 15 goals. He'll be the leading scorer for Houston this year.

Still don't get why Dom doesn't try him as a late game sub. Again at RSL, why not try to score the game winner? Instead of putting Goldthwaite in late, why not Wondo?

Will be interesting to see which Reserves are on the roster next year. In the games I saw, I was impressed with were Wondo, Holden, Goldthwaite, and at times Chabala and Ianni. This year has to be considered a bit of a downer for Ianni - to go that high in the draft and get virtually no playing time in the regular MLS games. The guys who did not impress me much were Nash and Storey. Lanes and Moloi were ok, didn't seem to stand out from the group but didn't make a lot of mistakes. Didn't see enough of Hutton to comment. Wells started off slow, letting in a couple of goals that it looked like he should stop, but later in the year he seemed to do better and made some big saves. Is he the keeper of the future - hard to say.

Good analysis. On Ianni, he has been hurt a good part of the year with one nagging injury after another. Dom has not been known to play rookies very much. I bet he gets a lot of playing time next year.

Just fyi - the Dynamo reserve game against San Jac that was previously scheduled for 10/15 has apparently been cancelled.
