    Neither.

He didn't come to Houston until 4 years ago. Most of his development was in the Chicago Fire and Barca Academy. Started pro career with El Paso.

    From his Wiki profile:

On February 4, 2022, Raines signed with MLS club Houston Dynamo.[5] The Dynamo acquired his homegrown territory rights from Real Salt Lake in exchange for $50,000 of GAM.[5] Raines made his senior Dynamo debut on April 19, getting the start and playing 74 minutes in a 2–1 win over Rio Grande Valley FC in a U.S. Open Cup game.[6] The match saw Raines become the youngest player in Dynamo history at 17 years and 36 days.[7]

You guys are wildin' splitting hairs on teenagers playing Dynamo soccer! HA!

Splitting hairs? In no way. He is not from the GHA. He did not come through our Academy. Those are confirmed facts.

Wait, hold on, when immigrant kids turn up at their local school here in town they are factually from some far off land. But they sign up for their school's soccer team and represent their local community. So, did they learn their soccer from growing up in Mexico, Colombia, or Congo or Syria? Yes. However, they quickly play their ball as teenagers on their club teams, varsity school teams and are now a local youth player from Houston.
Raines never played for our academy under Clarkson nor Holocher or whomever is in charge here in the 2020's! Super! In my book, if a teen moves to Houston and is playing first team Dynamo soccer as teen, then he is ours.

The question was "Not from our academy pipeline or not from the GHA?"

It is not splitting hairs to answer THAT question as "Neither."

Was he ours? Sure, I agree with that. Was he "local?" Not really in my view, but that term is fairly undefined. Folks can view it however they want.

So I can see how this got off the rails a bit. I was responding to just the limited question about academy product or from the GHA. You were focused more on "our B Raines."

    For sure!
I mean the kid could barely drive legally when he started playing in our orange jersey, much less vote or buy a beer. It is why I included a "HA!" in my first response.
