I just got it and i was disappointed that they used the Photo from the Finals where the US flag was upside down.. I think a better choice after the the messages on the Big Soccer Site about it.. would have been more appropriate and offend more people then the name "1836" just wanted to share my 2 cents.
Well, just be happy that there are no pictures of signs saying "Fussball, Ficken, Alkohol, NordBoys."
the following was sent out... Dear Fans: On behalf of the Houston Dynamo organization, I would like to apologize for the fact that a picture of an upside down American flag was used in a recent e-mail newsletter that was sent out. It is completely inappropriate that this image was chosen. A third party vendor, which runs the website for MLS, is responsible for choosing the photo. However, we as an organization share responsibility for this because we have the obligation to proofread the newsletter before it was sent out and we failed. We apologize for this oversight. By the way, for those that may not know, the International Charter of Flag Etiquette states that a flag may be flown upside down in cases of extreme distress. If you have been following the Dynamo since 2006, you will know that there have been no cases of extreme distress! Oliver Luck President/General Manager
Well in this case, OL would get a thank you letter from everybody: "Dear OL, since my husband/wife/gf/bf/partner is a Dynamo fan, we have after the games always a real good time with each other .Thank you for making my life better . "
Seriously, I wonder how many people, if any, wrote in and complained after getting the email. I looked at it and didn't even notice it.... I didn't recognize it as being from DC, it looked like it was at the top of Robertson, so I was confused. And it looked like the flag was sort of darkened or something so it barely was noticeable. So how could anybody really be offended? Honestly, I wrote a letter to OL thanking him for his apology but explaining that it wasn't necessary. And reminding him that we have far more important things to worry about (a stadium, a striker or two, a third cup to get.... )
