I was wondering why De Rosario never went to Europe like many other Canadian players. I'll admit I am not very familiar with him prior to his time in the MLS and even then I didn't follow him very closely, I saw on his wikipedia page he did spend some time in Germany but I wonder did he just choose to stay in the MLS all those years? Seems like he wants to try his luck in Europe now but given that so many Canadian players have played in Europe why did he stay in North America? Did he try to go over there prior to trying to get on with Celtic now?
From what I've read, DeRo was turned off playing Europe after his stint in Germany because he found the racism over there to be unbearable. He's had a good thing going for him in MLS and I guess he never saw any real reason to move.
What are you talking about? DeRo unfortunetely couldn't get a contract to play on an A-Team in either Bundesliga 1 or 2...I think he tried Bundesliga 3 as well. There are countless of players from different background in Europe and the "racism" is way less then in places such as Winnipeg or Regina. DeRo has a problem that he is already 32,which in soccer terms that is retirmenet age. He should have stayed in Houston as well as JDG in Spain, but unfortunetely both received a bad advise and got sucked into TFC...JDG at least makes good money there.DeRo is in a difficult situation.
^^What are you talking about? Anybody reading out there please do not take anything that this poor unfortunate paranoid soul says as being true. He makes it up as he types. Kevin Keegan had an issue with the Man City board when he tried to bring in DeRo. The board never heard of him (DeRo) and wanted a more high profile player. Keegan quit Man City over this and some other matters. DeRo trialed at Blackburn, they offered him a contract, (until the end of the season), and he turned it down in favour of more security with MLS and not moving his family. I believe it was both Jason Bent and DeRo who experienced racism in the former East Germany. Regina and Winnipeg? Where do you get this stuff? Get help! Trolling Anonymous is calling your name!
Julian DeGuzman was never in former East Germany...DeRo never got a firm offer on staying in Europe....Edson Buddle or whatever his name is just got a deal well paying in a 2nd Bundesliga team going down to 3rd Bundesliga{Oberliga}...Onyevu just transferred to Holland after being in Milan without a contract and no pay for almost 2 years... I like DeRo,but it looks like he blew his chances by playing young in MLS...Biggest mistake was leaving Houston and coming to TFC.
I was thinking about something else and typed JDG instead of Jason Bent who along with Dero experienced racist sentiments in Zwickau. Otherwise what was said about DeRo's trials in Europe are true and as usual your statements are not which is why you were kicked out of one site and have a yellow card at this one. Obviously they are very forgiving here.
(comment removed by moderator) Bottom line is that the Canadian player who has accomplished the most so far in EU is JDG playing Bundesliga and La-Liga...and His Brother playing in Holland and La-Liga as well...The third I would say was Staltari and 4th DeVos and 5th Forrest and 6th Simpson in Turkey...{if you don't count Hergeaves who won Champions League with Bayern and played at a World Cup with England} DeRo somehow never cut it to make a team there...???Bad advise or manager or something...
Ah, yeah, I'll take that under advisement. And while you struggle to come up with Canadian player names, may I point you to the Mother of All Canadians Abroad thread. No, it's not a gossip column for your kid, it's a tracking thread to show where Canadian players are playing and for news of transfers, signings, trials etc. You're trying to say that DeRo wasn't good enough to play in Europe (another one of your lies) the evidence says contrary.
No,absolutely, not at all...I am saying that "poor" DeRo somehow mismanaged his career...I like him,I think that he was the best player for TFC last year...He is an examle on how much you neet to be careful to do business with MLS... However, got sucked into a bad contract and ill have difficulty to make more in Europe due to his age...Let's face it DeRo isn't Ljungberg....
Yes, the Blackburn offer could have been his ticket if he'd chosen to take that short term contract. He missed the boat there unfortunately. Yes, the Man City thing was unfortunate. Again, another opportunity that went away although this one was just bad luck. Also correct on Zwickau in the former East Germany. Both he and Jason Bent were put through the ringer over there and got out. It's not like either of them were stars there but I'm sure it didn't do them any harm as players. Once DeRo got back playing in the A-League, he tore it up leading to Yallop taking him to San Jose so I think it's fair to say that his play probably benefited from his time and training with Zwickau.
You are out of your depth on this one Miro. He did spend parts of two seasons with Zwickau in the late 90's and is on the record discussing being an ethnic minority in the former East Germany and the difficulties both he and Bent experienced there. Whether it is less than Winnipeg or Regina ... or even Malvern is something I can't comment on but East Germany had a quite bad reputation for racism after unification.
Well,I was just looking at some teams that my son's team FK Bohemians Praha will be playing in the pre-season...And one of them FK Banik Most just came back from Germany from an indoor tourney where they played Zwickow...No reports of any irregularities and/or racism etc...Wonder if DeRo and the the other guy just made up the accusations of "racism" because they couldn't make the team...???Just wondering... http://www.fkbm.cz/newphprs/view.php?cisloclanku=2011011601
Yes, because over a decade after DeRo left is the best measure of how well Zwickau has reintegrated into being a respectful and accepting society.
OK folks, this is a DeRo thread. Let's keep it to DeRo. I've deleted all non DeRo posts. This thread isn't about Andy (to whom we wish all the best). I will be working very hard to keep this thread on Dero and Dero only. If we want to discuss Andy, feel free to start a thread about Andy. Thank you B
