Unfortunately not in Yellow for Colombia. But with better tactics and approach I agree he should be given a new chance.
I mean Duvan pressed a ton in Gasperini's system. I think Cordoba has benefited from two things: - Lorenzo giving Colombia a clear system of play, and leveraging a 10 within it - Not carrying the massive pressure Duvan had on his back. He just looked so overwhelmed by it at the end.
We were a disaster under Rueda, all of our attackers look infinitely better because we have a great system, we generate a ton of good chances and the atmosphere is good with a constant game plan.
True for the most part. But it was not tactics or system that affected Duvan's shot inaccuracies and misses that should have been buried. That is on him.
I think I read or heard the atmosphere at the time was pretty bad so perhaps that affected his mentality at the time because he is very prolific in Serie A I was convinced Duvan Zapata would have been on the decline by now but I was wrong

If that is the reason he won't be called up. But maybe he's in better form and he certainly plays in a better league.
Given that Cordoba was actually scoring goals for us this year into the Copa America while scoring the same amount (4) in mere 12 matches, Cordoba has a better arugement.
Being carried out on a stretcher; when he tried to do a Ronaldo chop, he awkwardly struck the ground and i think he over stressed something.
Sucks for him, but it was clear that Lorenzo was never gonna call him, surely this solidifies his Colombia career is over.
Most injuries are of kids not used to the physicality in the european football. As with Cortes, Gomez, and others. That is obviously not the case with Zapata. The NT doesn't really loose anything since the likelyhood of him being called up was pretty low. However a huge loss for Torino since he was a consistent scorer. They would probably need to buy someone in january if they have any money. They don't really risk relegation but had a good enough team to be top 5-6 I think.
That's the end of his season. He can go hang out with Yerson or ask Yerry for tips on the best hospital bed to hang out at
It is a combination of factors: 1. These are top athletes pushing the limits of the human body. Going just a little harder could mean going over the top. 2. Although there is less contact now, for the reason above, almost any contact means higher forces applied to a body already pushed to its limits. 3. For elite players, the calendar is insane, leaving very little time for the body to recover fully. Some players are pushing near 70 games per season, meaning a game every 4 days (after vacations and preseason weeks are substracted). Add extensive traveling and preseason training, it is just a matter of time for an injury to happen.
Let me add a carve out: Clubs and players are also being more cautious about injuries and they rather sit them out a couple of weeks (specially around FIFA breaks).
