Van Damn! Holland is bringing their heavy hitters - hell yes. They need to get ready for Euro2004. Should be a good match.

    screw Portugal.

This will EASILY be the best team we've faced in a long time.

We need to put our best team with speed at most positions and defensive abilities at all positions to hang in the game.

    Howard

    Heyduk -- Pope -- Boca -- Convey

    Reyna -- Armas -- O'Brien -- Beas

    Donovan -- McBride

IMO, 2-0 would be a good result for USA unless the Dutch don't bring their "A" game along with their "A" team.

Holy Crap! Let's hope we can keep up. Our defense worries me.

We played their B+ team before last WC and got spanked! However, we did end up in the quarters, so that's not so bad.

Definitely. Remember all of the posters that you've seen on these boards complaining about how we never play tough friendlies on the road...well here you go.

Wow, both teams bringing their big dogs. Should be a fast paced, exciting game with the Dutch holding a good deal of possession and the U.S. counterattacking like crazy.

    3-3 result.

except the Dutch big dogs are a lot bigger than the American big dogs. No chance for a tie.

Absolutely fantastic sign of respect from a European team with pedigree.

I hope the players are motivated and want to make a statement. A good game will get us more invitations from other teams in Europe as well as the rest of the world. Hopefully, we won't have to settle for playing anymore A-Name teams with B-type rosters looking forward to a vacation in the States.

Yeah, I guess they shouldn't bother playing the match at all.

I expect Cherundolo over Hejduk and Mathis will probably roving behind Donovan and McBride. Maybe a 3-4-1-2 formation. Wonder who is going to mark Van Nistlerooy?

What the U-23 Mexican team did to Donovan, et. al., on Tuesday night was a spanking.

What the Dutch team did to the Sampson-led US in Florida prior to the '98 WC was a spanking.

You must have forgotten the game prior to '02, because we played Holland well. Makaay was just on fire that day and so was their goalkeeper, Waterreus. Not saying we were the better team, but we finished the game with our heads held high.

Now that's a roster! I only wish we could get them to bring a squad like that to play us here in the States.

All that talent with no international results to show for it - the Dutch have been the biggest mystery team on the world stage, almost since their great run in the 70's.

Which is an American perspective. We consider second place to be "First losers". I have come to like the latin American concept of "sub-campeon".

I'd put the recent Portugal teams on the pedestal beside them.

Isn't it scary when you think that the worst club teams any of their roster play for are Fulham FC and Middlesbrough - two mid-table, respected EPL Clubs?

Especially when our BEST players play on those mid-table clubs.

No argument there - my problem with the Dutch is that after the US, they are my second favorite international side.

If there was one side I wanted the USMNT to play in a friendly, it's Holland.

    Re: Re: Dutch roster announced

I don't find that scary. I think their average players get a lot more opportunities because they're Dutch, although that will hopefully change over time as our players get more respect. What I do find scary is that their best players are truly world class.

Well *#*#*#*#. At least we know both teams are playing to win...this will probably be the strongest team we have until Hex play begins.
