Well, in the hunt for Dutch players Kluivert scored two new ones:
Boost for Indonesia: Go Ahead star and Groningen player also make switch
Joey Pelupessy and Dean James are the next players from the Netherlands to choose an international career for Indonesia. Sources report this to VoetbalPrimeur. With this, the 'Dutch' enclave seems to be getting even bigger near the Asian country. It is now known that Indonesia is scouting in the Netherlands, in the hunt for players who can play for the country because they have roots in Indonesia. Born Dutchmen such as Mees Hilgers, Kevin Diks, Maarten Paes, Haye and Calvin Verdonk have already chosen an international career with Indonesia. Pelupessy and James will do that too, VoetbalPrimeur knows. At the beginning of February, James told VP's camera that there was 'nothing yet' going on with regard to Indonesia, but that he was open to coming out for the country. Indonesia has therefore persisted for Pelupessy and James in a short time.
For national coach Patrick Kluivert, the arrival of Pelupessy and James is an extra quality boost in the battle for direct World Cup qualification. Indonesia is still in the race for this. The international matches that it will play at the end of March against Australia and Bahrain are therefore crucial.

  3. And another trophy reeled in:
Jordi Cruijff new technical advisor football association Indonesia
'A few days ago there was a conversation between Cruijff and Patrick Kluivert (national coach, ed.). We thank God that we were able to capture Jordi last night," said the chairman.
Since his departure in the summer of 2023 as Barcelona's sporting director, Cruijff has been out of work. But he is now following the trail of Kluivert and his assistants Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat to Indonesia. Cruijff will be the new technical advisor of the football association. He will start in March and will help in the search for a new technical director, among other things.

They have 19 out of 29 players are foreign born and for them, the dream of making to the World Cup is so big that the end justifies the means (they still do it legally, not like the Argentine who cheated their way to win 1978 World cup with that Peru 6-0 bribery). If Kluivert, Cruyff and their staff succeed, they will be treated better than the president, but if they fail, who knows what the "passionate" Indonesian fans will do. Bahrain's fans are advised not to travel to Indonesia and none of them travel for safety reason. Too much passion borders "craziness". When I see their starting 11, I could not tell that is an Indonesian team. Watching the below video may give some ideas about this country's football.

The forgotten folk heroes: when Ind(ones)ië already played a World Cup
By Bjorn Goorden Bjorn Goorden VI Time Machine
He still laughs his endearing boyhood smile sometimes, at the same time Patrick Kluivert feels the pressure on his shoulders growing all the time. Against China, a country of 280 million souls expects nothing less from its national coach than the next step towards the World Cup. While on Thursday it is exactly 87 years ago that Indonesia was last present at a global final round.

Dodgy PK call gives Indonesia 1-0 halftime lead over China. Surprising to see Calvin Verdonk in the Indonesia starting lineup!

This is the route for Indonesia to the 2026 World Cup.

With a first win over China in 47 years and Bahrain's defeat against Saudi Arabia, Indonesia can prepare for the fourth phase of the Asian World Cup qualification. In this way, the team of national coach Patrick Kluivert qualifies for the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
In total, there are (maximum) five phases that Indonesia must survive. Indonesia closes the third phase on Tuesday with an away game against Japan, but Timnas is already assured of a place in the fourth phase due to Thursday's results. In it, the numbers three and four of the three groups are divided into two groups of three in the third phase.
The countries all play each other once in October and all matches take place on neutral ground. This happens in a time frame of just seven days. The winner of each group qualifies for next year's World Cup, the numbers two go to the fifth (and final) phase.
In the fifth phase, a ticket for the intercontinental play-offs can still be earned. Six countries play for the last two spots at the world championship. Two countries from CONCACAF participate, and each continental football association provides a country, with the exception of UEFA. The Dutch-tinted Indonesia will not want to let it get that far.

Indonesia's confidence is dealt a blow, Kluivert's team is defeated hard by Japan.
The Indonesian players go into the holiday with a bad feeling. After the next round of the World Cup qualification was secured a few days earlier, Patrick Kluivert's men were completely outplayed by Japan on Tuesday: 6-0.
    upload_2025-6-10_15-37-54.png
The home team took an early 2-0 lead against Indonesia, which again appeared at the start with quite a few (former) Eredivisie players. With the help of the great technician Takefusa Kubo, Japan, where Sparta midfielder Shunsuke Mito made his debut as a starting customer, used the opponent as a plaything. On the stroke of halftime, the Real Sociedad midfielder was the declarant on the 3-0. After the break, Japan would run out to 6-0, thanks in part to standout Shuto Machino, who scored a goal and an assist. In the final phase, NEC player Kodai Sano also put on the blue jersey of Japan for the first time. Indonesia failed to fire a shot for ninety minutes.
Indonesia secured itself after a victory over China on Thursday already of the fourth round of the Asian World Cup qualifying series. In it, the team, which includes several naturalized Dutchmen, must finish first in a group of three countries in October to be admitted to the World Cup. The second position could also be enough via a fifth round and intercontinental play-offs.

Jonathans and Zijlstra the following 'Dutch' reinforcements for Indonesia
    Today at 11:31

Miliano Jonathans (FC Utrecht) and Mauro Zijlstra (FC Volendam) may, if the final details are worked out, play for the national team of Indonesia. The two attackers will enter the naturalization process and then join several compatriots who also play or have played in the Eredivisie.
Jonathans and Zijlstra, both twenty years old, can also play for Young Indonesia because of their age. Jonathans' grandfather was born in Depok and Zijlstra's grandmother is from Bandung. As a result, they could opt for an international career with the Asian country. The interland period in September seems to come too soon for the duo. The naturalization process is now underway, but there are still more requirements to become an Indonesian citizen.
However, the international period in September is not the most important for Indonesia. Friendly games against Kuwait and Lebanon are scheduled, especially in preparation for the important international period in October. In it, the fourth World Cup qualifying round will be played against Saudi Arabia and Iraq. At stake is a World Cup ticket for the final tournament in 2026.
Via the club channel of FC Utrecht, Jonathans says that he has already spoken with national coach Patrick Kluivert. 'We called and talked about playing style and things like that. I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait. I am looking forward to meeting the fans and how I will be welcomed. It's super beautiful: a country with 280 million inhabitants where football is very much alive. I can't wait to experience that.'

Maarten Paes, Kevin Diks, Mees Hilgers, Justin Hubner, Jay Idzes, Dean James, Calvin Verdonk, Thom Haye, Ivar Jenner, Joey Pelupessy, Eliano Reijnders, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Stefano Lilipaly, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Ole Romeny are some well-known selection players under Kluivert
    .

Rather young to make that choice already.

    Indonesia's last chance(s)

Indonesia will start the decisive fourth round of the World Cup qualification in Asia this week.
In the third round, the team of national coach Patrick Kluivert took 12 points in ten matches, which made it fourth.
The numbers one and two, Japan and Australia, have already qualified for the World Cup.
Indonesia is now in a group with Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The number one of these three countries qualifies directly for the World Cup. For the number two, a second chance awaits against the number two from the other group (Qatar, Oman or United Arab Emirates). The winner of that game will play another play-off tournament.
Well-known names in the selection: Maarten Paes (FC Dallas), Jay Idzes (Sassuolo), Justin Hubner (Fortuna Sittard), Calvin Verdonk (Lille), Kevin Diks (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Dean James (Go Ahead Eagles), Thom Haye (Persib Bandung), Nathan Tjoe-A-On (Willem II), Miliano Jonathans (FC Utrecht) and Ole Romeny (Oxford United).

Double advantage Qatar and Saudi Arabia in crucial play-offs: 'Who comes up with this?'

In the run-up to the important play-offs in the Asian World Cup qualifying series, criticism has been unleashed on the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Participants Qatar and Saudi Arabia have home advantage as organizers of the mini-tournaments and there is also much more recovery time between their two matches.
From Wednesday, in addition to the Indonesia of national coach Patrick Kluivert, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will compete in two groups of three teams for a ticket to the World Cup. The all-important matches will be played over a period of seven days, with Qatar and Saudi Arabia both playing the first and third matches. Their opponents play in matches one and two and therefore only have 72 hours of recovery time. Moreover, Qatar and Saudi Arabia play at home.
Carlos Queiroz, appointed in July as the national coach of Oman - together with the Emirates opponent of Qatar in Group A - expressed his surprise at a press conference about the state of affairs in the Asian qualifying series. 'I knew this in advance, but it would be a miracle under these circumstances if we qualify. Are there no stadiums in Japan or Kuwait where we could have played?', The Guardian noted from the mouth of the 72-year-old Portuguese. 'Maybe the people who came up with this look at football differently
    .'

Saudi Kingdom 2-1 Indonesia at the half. Logged in late so missed the Indo goal, but not surprised that KSA got a PK in the first half. I would expect at least two in this match to ensure that they advance.

Although Indo has a much larger population, the Kingdom has a lot more money.

I suspect that the Patrick Kluivert Experiment is what attracted most of us. Indonesia, like Malaysia and several other countries, is trying to get onto the world stage by bringing in foreigners to play footie for them. The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has been under fire recently from FIFA for improperly vetting or registering foreigners for their NT.

    Yeah.
I posted that about the Dutchman getting a year suspension for that fraud in my other Dutchies in foreign national teams thread.
I do wonder who those over 61000 views made in this thread. It can't be our regular forum watchers.

Well, over 11 minutes extra time in the 2nd half.

  21. You missed the fun part:ROFLMAO:
Boy, are those SA players a bunch of childish posers, rolling over the turf as if they were attacked by that SA bonesaw killer.
If I was King of them, I would have them whipped 70 times for being an insult to the nation's masculinity.

  22. To be honest I'm questioning Kluivert performance as a coach with this team. When Ole Romeny came in, Indonesia promptly got far more dangerous up front.
