So here is the drill.

We are last to start. If leagues above us need players, they look to the league below. We are the lowest league so if Very Small Rocks needs a player, they will get one from Sand. Then Sand will have to get one from Dust, and so on. Consequently, we start last.

I am watching and inquiring to see when the other leagues are set. If you see something to indicate that they are moving, like assigning draft positions, like Small Rocks did a couple days ago, post a notice here just in case I have missed it.

 

Draft availability .....

Since I am a "kept man," having forsaken work and all its indignities, something I would advise all others to try, except my wife, I can be VERY available. We will be in Portland between July 29 and August 1st, during which time my availability will be more limited, but not much more.

Brother Richard says he will be generally available, except for 7/30 and 7/31. Not sure where he is going but I plan to find out! He does work (WORK, what an awful thing) but seems to have access very regularly.

Note: I see the first gameweek in the Premier League as Saturday, 8/13.

If we start 8/1 we would have to be fairly efficient in the process to allow some time before the start. Remember, the player list is locked during the draft, meaning players transfering in to the EPL during draft time will not be available for draft, but would have to be transferred in after the draft is over. There is a 24 hour period after the draft is over before the first transfers can be made. My history is that I make a few transfer after the draft generally because I have learned that my 5th defender is not a starter or that some other minor player is hurt.

Appears to be 2 choices. Start when Mr. O'Hare becomes available, sometime Thursday, July 28, and move forward with the understanding that during 7/30 - 7/31 we will not have Richards undivided attention or wait for Monday, 8/1.
Starting 8/1 give 11 days to complete the draft. I am nervous about that mostly because I do not have experience with this group during a draft. It only take one guy to thrash the deal. One guy or even two showing up only once per day, or maybe twice per day, can create gaps of inactivity for periods of 12 to 18 hours. That makes for 1 pick per day and missing the start of the EPL.

So the questions are: 1. Everyone ok with my using a draft randomizer for draft order, and, 2. when do we start.

 

I forgot how confusing it gets with all these names. While we are using Bigsoccer I will change to Bigsoccer name and team name in future posts rather than given names.
