Still, if the Gals want his rights, they have to work out a deal with us.

I doubt they'd give us Suarez back, but maybe Broome?

This is what I don't understand. Coming off of the worst roster in MLS for 2003, and still looking to retain that dubvious distinction in 2004, why don't we have a boatload of trialist hanging out at Blue Sky? You would think that with the wide open starting job at right or left outside back we would have at least 3-4 MLS journeymen looking to see if they could stick. They go to other teams. Why do they avoid the Burn?

There really aren't a ton of MLS journeyman outside backs. Plenty of midfielders, defenders, and forwards, yes, but not really outside backs.

I've noted it in several different threads, but outside back is simply not a position of strength in MLS. Although it may be the biggest area of weakness on this team - I certainly don't think that we should be embarrassed with the combination of Gbandi/Salyer/Talley. Look at the rest of the league - it's not like these guys are hands down lower quality than what every other team in the league is running out there. IMHO - we should not be looking for an int'l player to put in at outside back - an experienced vetern (Talley), developing talented youth (Gbandi/Salyer) is a better way to go.

    Outstanding post BR13. I agree.
just checklast years starting outside backs in the MLS cup.

As for Dunseth, he is out of contract. I am sure LA would want to bring him in as a cheap backup.
They would have to trade with Dallas, but I am sure it would just be a pick of some kind.

Broome burned his bridges here, but Suarez I would take back. You are just not going to get him for a player you would eventually cut. LA can just wait for him to hit the waiver wire. I am sure LA would give you a 5th or 6th for him. Heck is he is training in LA there is probably a set price.

Do you really want to see Wes Hart or Chris Brunt or Jason Cole trying out for the Burn? Do you think that any of these guys is going to be significantly better than Gbandi or Salyer or Ezra. I can't imagine that, if these guys were trying out, you wouldn't be moaning about how we're just adding more mediocre castoffs from other teams. These guys aren't going to make a bit of difference in our final record next year; they haven't shown anything in several years in MLS, they're not going to suddenly do it now.

If Dunseth spent half the time he spends on getting his hair "just right", he could be a fantastic defender.

Speaking of former Burn-now LA players with hair issues, the stalling of Ryan Suarez' development could be pin pointed to right about the time he let his hair grow out Maldini style. He spent more time checking his hair than keeping track of his man.

Good observation. If Suarez comes back he needs to revert to rookie Ryan hair to show that soccer is back to being first. That Ryan was good and well liked by the fans.
