This is either will be a Rangers blow out or could develope into a very interesting match.

1-0 to Dunfermline at HT. Great goal by Stevie Crawford, flick on by brewster and a lovely litttle lob over Klos. Deserved lead, Rangers have nothing in the final third, could do with a players like Crawford and Brewster who have been outstanding.

    Vanoli -> :D

I don't care how, if you haven't seen it, you MUST see this OG by Vanoli. One of the funniest I've ever seen.

To give a dodgy description of it - Dunfermline hit in a hopeful cross from the Rangers right, and the ball comes to Vanoli at chest height in the middle of the goals, not under much pressure (few attackers since holding 1-0 lead late).

He miskicks with his left foot, the ball is knocked down by what looks like his right arm. Dunfermline fans behind the goal and players appeal for a penalty, but referee turns it down.

Vanoli now has the ball on the ground six yards from goal on his left foot, facing the goal. There is no pressure since all the Dunfermline players in the area were appealing to the referee for the handball. Vanoli then inexplicably hits a passback, gently but firmly, into the bottom corner of the goal past Klos to his right.

    Hilarious.

I wish I could see that OG...that would be so priceless. I'm stunned that Rangers are that wounded from being bounced from the CL or are NOT that good and we all just haven't figured that out yet! LOL.

They aren't that good, and I think it has been figured out - a heck of a lot of Rangers fans were calling radio talkshows yesterday demanding he get sacked.

It's also been pointed out that McLeish has a habit of taking over good teams and making them worse when he stamps his mark on them:
Motherwell - took Tommy McLean's side to 2nd in the league and then when he made his changes to the team they dropped to near the foot of the table.
Hibernian - arrived too late to save them from relegation, brought them back up to the SPL thanks to the influence of Franck Sauzee, made mass changes to the squad and they were stuck at the bottom end of the table again.
Rangers - initial success after inheriting Advocaat's team, but now he's brought in his own players they're following the pattern of decline seen at his previous clubs.

It's just a shame that (so far) no other SPL club has put together a half-decent run to challenge them for 2nd place as yet...

This is the most intreguing point, by far. Why haven't other clubs jumped at the opportunity to push their way into 2nd place???

    I know.

They made Killie look like a good club.

"That's bad, that's bad!" Dana Carvey as Bush 41.

    Re: Holyjoe...

I just wonder whether or not you know that the word "greeting" is a Glaswegian word for 'crying'... (as in "hae a good greet" or "stop greetin' and pull yersel' together!")

Makes it all the more appropriate :)

I'd like to know what Chris Sutton makes of the result.

After all, he did criticise Dunfermline for "lying down" to Rangers on the final day of last season...

    Well...

Chris Sutton was RIGHT obviously. DA played well aganist Celtic to open the season, and now they beat Rangers.

Horrible, just horrible on DA's part. I think we (Celtic Supporters) all would have rather seen 6-1 over the weekend and a 2-0 win last year.

    Re: Well...

But only 2 games before that 6-1 match, Celtic had beaten the same Dunfermline team 4-1. Surely they "lay down" on both occasions then? Either that, or both Rangers and Celtic totally outclassed the Pars back then.

Anyway, what goes around comes around - Celtic fielded a severely weakened team in the final match of the 2000/01 season. Kilmarnock beat them 1-0 and qualified for Europe at the expense of Hearts, who were rightly annoyed.
At least if Dunfermline had the decency to play with their full team when 'lying down' on the last day of the season...

To be honest, it had most to do with the team that Rangers were able to select for the respective matches.

    Dunfermline 2v0 Rangers, 14th December 2003

    Dunfermline:

    Stillie

    Skerla
    Wilson
    Tod
    Bullen

    Nicholson
    Mason
    Darren Young
    Derek Young (sub: Dempsey, 66)

    Crawford
    Brewster (sub: Hunt, 77)

    Rangers:

    Klos

    Ricksen
    Berg
    Ball
    Vanoli

    Burke
    Malcolm
    Hughes
    Lovenkrands

    Capucho (sub: Ostenstad, H/T)
    Mols (sub: Arveladze, 72)

    Rangers 6v1 Dunfermline, 25th May 2003

    Rangers:

    Klos

    Ricksen
    Moore
    Amoruso
    Numan

    Ferguson
    Arteta

    Caniggia (sub: McCann, H/T)
    De Boer
    Mols (sub: Thompson, 62)
    Arveladze

    Dunfermline:

    Stillie

    Bullen
    MacPherson (sub: Walker, 70)
    Wilson
    Grondin (sub: Dempsey, H/T)

    Dair
    Nicholson
    Mason
    McGroarty (sub: McGarty, 77)

    Crawford
    Brewster

The Rangers side in May is so much stronger, Ferguson and Arteta in midfield instead of Hughes and Malcolm is a huge difference.

too ryte, if we had even just arteta playing we would have beat them. also not 2 mension playing on that horrible park, n yes it is an excuse not 2 mension a good one, they have had time 2 get used to that, train on it every day and have played a number of games on it. if it was on grass rangers would have played arteta and arvaladze from the start............all i have to say is, watch the demolition job when rangers play them at ibrox, and if chris sutton says any more stupid remarks he is not worthy of being a payed profesional

    c'mon you treble winners 2003!!!!!!
