what's happened to grover gibson this year? that article last year made him seem like a solid squad player for Mainz and i don't think he's seen the field this year.

was there a coaching change? am i confused and got it all wrong?

The article was after his first - solid - game. Afterwards he played some further games, but in the last two he had some mistakes including the assist for the game winner of the opponent. That made him drop deep down in the internal ranking. I think he didn't even make the bench since December.

duhaney appeared to be on the bench---there were several camera shots of the bench players during the game (it was the featured tv game on mon.---and with 4 goals---YES!!----there were numerous bench celebration camera moments). he was dressed in a mainz05 warmup...so I assume (always dangerous!) he was available as a sub...but I can't find anything on any of the sites about the players that were in the squad for the game.
as for gibson...olaf's absolutely right. there hasn't been any coaching change... and juergen klopp is by all accounts a very personable 'player's coach'. fan opinion is that although gibson had an exciting beginning... he didn't really adjust from the regional-liga to the 2.liga. there's just a lot of players in front of him now---he had his chance but completely messed up in the two games he was back from injury---including being the cause of the last minute loss in one of them... teams fighting for promotion can't afford that kind of mistake, obviously, so barring injury, it'll probably be next year before he has another shot (IMHO) if they aren't promoted, and if they are promoted, he may not get any more time than this year.
