and they won again. Not sure how involved Holmes was in their goals but what a run they are on to start the season! According to the BBC it's their best domestic start since 1903!
The best Yank in the Championship this season, with apologies to the Josh Sargent injury, starts again against Rotherham. https://x.com/pnefc/status/1705585757354602985?s=20 "North End have started the game with real intent, and Duane Holmes looked to have beaten Viktor Johansson to a bouncing loose ball in the box, but the Rotherham stopper managed to recover. [8']" May well need to win today to stay on top of the table.
If you're going to lose your undefeated season, do it in style, I say. Holmes plays 64 minutes of a 4-0 shellacking at the hands of WBA, who obviously still don't have Dike back. PNE fall to third. Holmes not appearing to take blame for the problematic match, with Woodman in goal getting the worst of it, but also can't have had a great day.
Holmes starts as PNE look to get back on track against a Leicester side that might be the best in the league. #2 and #3 in the standings currently with a game in hand on Ipswich in the top spot.
Off in the 78th. Good ratings on stat sites, but apparently put a 1 v 1 with the keeper wide. 2-0 Leicester.
PNE has really taken a beating these last two games. I’m not sure if it’s them coming back to earth or believing their press clippings when they shot to first
They've got another tough one coming up on Saturday against newly promoted Ipswich Town. Kieran McKenna and the new American owners have done wonders with a team that languished in League 1 for too long. I starting following Town in their glory years when I was in Germany in the late 70s/early 80s. (My paternal ancestors are from East Anglia.) McKenna's name is mentioned in just about every manager's vacancy in England these days.

Holmes starts against Southampton. Five straight matches without a win have seen them falling off the pace in the Championship, and Holmes has faded from his excellent start to the season.
Played 88 minutes. Didn't seem to have a strong game from the writeup. Stoppage time own goal prevented them from taking three points and ruined their day. 2-2.

Holmes just hit the woodwork in maybe the most entertaining Championship match I've seen in ages. 1-1, mid-second half, Blackburn has also hit the post twice.
