I remember all of that. I remember the first time I laid eyes on Duane - in his first HTAFC stint - where he received the ball on the touchline at midfield, juked two players, took a hit & stayed on his feet and eventually drove downfield and played a peach of a ball to Danny Ward (also in his first stint at HTAFC) to finish. I remember thinking...... damn this kid has "it". He looked the part and I thought he was a can't miss prospect. It didn't turn out that way due to some inconsistencies. Still he's had a solid career despite that. I was happy he returned to HTAFC. In that signing interview that's buried somewhere in this thread, there's real joy and excitement in his voice and body language about returning home. There also a hint of relief of sorts like this was his destiny.

No doubt it. The talent has been there but those funks have essentially killed an international career. The funks have come at the worst times too, IIRC. You;d probably know more than most..... what's been the driver of the funks?

I think we all want this for Duane. He's always come across as such a nice guy, that's a little on the shy side. You could tell he was unhappy at Derby and it's really great to see he's on the rebound. Let's just hope it continues.

Am I wrong in remembering some lengthy injuries keeping him out of first team action as well?

I remember he had a hamstring injury in 2020 soon after the game resumed from the COVID shutdown. But nothing major that I can recall.

Looking at TM for the last 3 seasons, he's had 4 stretches for 4-6 games where he's been out of the squad. Only one is specifically labeled as injured, but it would be odd for him to be out that long without something being wrong.

Homes on at 77', Huddersfield in front 1-0, finished 2-0.

Huddersfield back to third, solidly in the playoff picture, with five games remaining.

    v QPR (11)
    @ Middlesbrough (8)
    v Barnsley (22)
    @ Coventry City (10)
    v Bristol City (19)

Holmes gets the start today against last place hopeless Barnsley. I think Huddersfield can clinch at least a spot in the playoff with a win today, and still has an outside shot at automatic promotion.

Reads like he had a good game - near assist and near-goal into the side netting.

On the flip side, Tino Anjorin subbed in for him, scored a penalty, and won man of the match in <30 minutes. So it can't have been that good. But they're in the playoffs ... so you're telling me there's a chance...

Holmes went 90 in a 2-0 win over Bristol. Looks like he played a role in the second goal.

He was down injured for a while in the second half, but was able to finish, so imagine he's ok for the playoffs. Strong third place finish heading into the playoffs.

Speaking of the promotion playoffs, I see:

Friday, May 13 Luton Town v Huddersfield
Saturday, May 14 Sheffield Utd v Nottingham Forest

Monday, May 16 Huddersfield v Luton Town
Tuesday, May 17 Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Utd

    Then, wait for it ...

Sunday, May 29 - the Promotion Final at Wembley

This play was exciting - gets the loose ball outside the defensive penalty area, and speed dribbles 60 yards up the middle before laying it off to O'Brien in stride, whose shot is blocked.
