Well, Norwich kicked off, at least. 3-0 after 24 minutes. Holmes started, but all I've noticed is a couple of turnovers, sometimes pretty central but shaded to the left wing.
4-0 at 30' and the Norwich guys just laugh and tell each other jokes, while the Terriers look as if they had not slept in days. Weird.
5-0 Norwich in the 42nd minute. Holmes is almost a sad case. There is a good player in there somewhere, but 2020 was bad for him and 2021 is getting worse, despite the move back to his hometown/childhood club. He had one great game this year against Swansea and I hoped he would use that to go on a real run of good form - like how he played in the fall of 2018. It didn't happen. It was an anomaly. He's been really bad since that great game - like he was before that game.
One-hit wonders in soccer are more due to the other teams not knowing the guy, than to the guy being actually good. Once the rivals figure their one move, it's over.
I get what you're saying. But Holmes seems different than the type of player who can get found out. He's a player who has serious confidence issues when his game hits a poor patch. There is no "typical" Duane Holmes. It's just really good, or really bad. He's had too many of these spells to say it is getting figured out. Anyway, Holmes is off in the 54th with Huddersfield down 5-0
I don't think he was involved in any of the goals. Actually, I don't think he was involved in anything.
