They lost at home to bottom of the table Wycombe 2-3, Holmes got a yellow and was replaced with 10 to go. The Terriers negative streak continues, and they're getting close to the red line.

Wycombe made a nice cup run. Are maybe better than their bottom place in the table shows? But not good for the Terriers nor Holmes' trajectory.

They lost 2:1 and drop to 19th in the table, only 5 points ahead of Sheffield Wednesday, who have a game in hand.

That makes it 6 losses in the last 8 games and, without a win since New Year's Eve, a coaching change is looming: it's cheaper to sack the coaching team than the team itself. :(

The 2nd goal was sic. Good for Holmes. Glad that he has a chance to reinvent himself w/ a new (er old) team.

It is kind of funny how YA runs of form change... At the end of last season CP was a world beater... earlier this season Gio looked like the "American Dream"... over the last month Wes has looked like our best player.... while CP and Gio can't even get meaningful minutes. Duane was hot too for a time last season and then got hurt and disappeared. Now he scores a brace for his new team playing a new role. Hoppe was hot... now he is not. Weah is in form now... but for how long? Musah was the craze and now he isn't. Dest went to Barca... and is now being blamed for Mbappe abusing them in the CL. I am going to make a distinct effort not to get too high on any of these guys now. What I want to see is some consistency from several of them. That is the trick... but difficult when you are young in an elite league.

Reasonable chance Holmes never scores a goal like that again. He hit that so, so, so sweetly. There is rarely a "season" for top guys. League play bleeds into cup and international. For top guys/teams their preseason are also games they're obligated to perform in. I remember Xavi's dad saying, during the hey-day of the incredible Barca team, that he/Iniesta/Messi (one of them, can't remember which) had played 80 games in that calendar year. That's one every 4.5 days, plus crisscrossing the globe and training, and media. Insanely grueling.

All that said, glad Holmes is settling in. There are so many variables, hard to say when or how or if they'll line up, and hopefully it stays lined up for the guy.

Went 90' and picked up a yellow card in a tame 1-1 draw against fellow relegation strugglers Birmingham that leaves them in 19th, eight points ahead of Matt Olasunde's Rotherham who have 3 games in hand.

Tellingly, they conceded an equalizer only 4 minutes after taking a 63rd-minute lead. With 39 goals scored in 34 games, they ought to be safely in mid-table but, with 51 goals conceded, they have the worst defence in the division.

The local newspaper's match report is entertaining, even if the game seems to have been unforgettable for all the wrong reasons:
It was not pretty to watch; in fact, this was one of the lowest-quality games of football you are ever likely to see at this level. These were two poor sides going head to head and both playing desperately poor football. At half time we in the press box all considered wandering over to the nearby Odeon in search of something better to do before remembering to our dismay that it was closed.
In the absence of anything else more diverting like watching two cats having a fight or organising an impromptu thumb war tournament (thanks, covid), we were forced to come back and watch the second half.
