Also, I'm kind of amazed that in the Era of Messi there are still evaluators who think smaller players with pace and skill can't cut it in pro soccer. Now, I'm not comparing 'Sup? to Messi but there are plenty of smaller players making an impact in soccer around the world. Even in England. I'm all for big centerbacks and target forwards, but skill and pace and vision and a soccer brain matter, too, and 'Sup? seems to have all those.
He came on in the 61st today in a Huddersfield loss. Their twitter feed makes it seem like he made an impact. I didn't see any of the game but all their fans on twitter seem to really like him and want to see more of him. He may have a real shot at starting in the next couple of games because James Vaughan has been suspended for a red card he picked up.
Might be starting against Leeds http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-v-leeds-united-6238888
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Buy the book??? Doesn't that break the Vegas code of" "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"??? Shame on you , Dave Where do I buy a copy?
Holmes tweeted the Huddersfield fans chanted "USA" for him That's awesome on their part. Holmes loved it
The Huddersfield Examiner is one of the best local papers in England covering it's team. They have a piece on Duane Holmes today with quotes from the coach Mark Robins http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-v-leeds-united-6246466 Huddersfield Town v Leeds United: Plenty more to come from Duane Holmes predicts Mark Robins
Lets hope his career doesn't follow the path of Sean Scannell, his replacement. Was highly touted as a youngster but hasn't fully panned out. (Yet?)
This is cool Duane Holmes@DuaneHolmes 7h So buzzing to go see the USA play against Scotland on Friday!
Duane scored while playing for Huddersfield's U21s in a friendly during the international break http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-u21s-put-four-6323337
He was mentioned as one of the top 5 uncapped Yanks who might get a late call-up: http://www.mlssoccer.com/es/node/239926?module=from_footer And look who noticed: 403906866994241536 is not a valid tweet id
For those interested, there might be good chance to see Duane on the tube as Huddersfield will be taking on Burnley live on BeIN Sports at 10 a.m. EST.
Holmes was on the bench but DNP as Huddersfield recorded a huge 2-1 win over table topping Burnley. Huddersfield thoroughly dominated the match and I have to say, looked very tidy and had some slick passing in the midfield. I was quite impressed by their performance especially by former Everton man James Vaughn. There was some movement on the bench and it looked liked Holmes might be coming in but Burnley scored a late goal which killed any chance he might entered.
Holmes made a second half stoppage time sub appearance yesterday in Huddersfield Town's 2-1 road loss to Ipswich Town.
Almost set up a great goal, beat several players before laying it off to Patterson whose cross was turned onto the post.
