I don't think he misunderstood. With the bazillion games left in the Championship season, and the quality of Rooney, that's a very high likelihood.
He was a positive note in a lackluster weekend, otherwise. And he's been playing fairly well in a team that is having plenty of issues. While I don't think he looks like a guy likely to make it in a Top 5 league, I'm happy with his progress.
I think he would be a valuable addition to several teams in the Bundesliga right now... I have been watching as much of him as I can over the last two months and have been genuinely impressed. We could, and have, done a lot worse in the USMNT midfield. I certainly don't think he is heading for stardom... but having a career like Morales for a mid to lower tier Bundesliga 1 Team doesn't seem like a stretch to me. He tackles well... has good vision on his passes and is actually better than Fredo on the dribble. Just my $.02.
He could easily have a career in the lower reaches of BL1. But if he could, he could also have that in the lower reaches of the EPL. For 50%+ more money. I'm guessing he'll take England

Yeah I mean to be honest if you are a top player on a top 6 championship team now, you are making what a player on a bottom 8 EPL team made 10 years ago. The amount of money has dramatically increased the quality of teams and with the parachute payments now preventing clubs from financial destruction there are just a higher number of clubs that can afford to pay players. Look at Fulham signing Mitro to 100,000+ pounds a week. That just didn't happen in the Championship until recently. Or Newcastle being able to retain pretty much their whole club when they went down.
I am not bothering to look up but I kind of remember something like a total of 13 pts and Benny couldn't get a look.
Praise for Holmes: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sp...ews/hes-great-player-champion-verdict-3758266 Such has been the impressive nature of his displays for the Rams this term, Peterborough striker Ivan Toney believes Holmes can already lay claim to the Player of the Season crown, and we’re still in January.
Thanks for the heads up. Sorry folks, but I just deleted the off topic stuff. On a less busy day in the real world I would have moved them.
Profile: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-county-duane-holmes-form-3762010 Holmes' performances have gone up another level of late although he will know he needs to add more goals to his game
On the bench for FA Cup: The Derby County @EmiratesFACup Fourth Round line-up! 💫#NTFCvDCFC pic.twitter.com/qpR35B02zX— Derby County (@dcfcofficial) January 24, 2020
Holmes never seems to get FA Cup time... I know he plays a ton of minutes for Derby in the Championship... but they could have used him today... as they end up in a 0-0 draw. Northampton is a League Two team and they had more shots and shots on target. Ugly game. 4 minutes of no touches for Reyna and 0 minutes for Holmes. This really ended up being a suck day. I had such high expectations.
That's good though. The FA Cup is basically useless to a club like Derby, unless they get drawn away to a big Premier League side and collect massive gate receipts. If Holmes is only playing in the Championship, that means he's more important to their primary target, which is 1) getting promoted or 2) staying in the Championship so they have a chance at promotion the next season.
Overall... I agree with you. The only thing I find odd is that guys like Knight and Rooney are playing every game. But whatever... I too would rather he just get the league starts... Just kind of bummed because they are not televised often on ESPN+ and I wanted to watch him today.
Starts: The Derby County line-up for tonight's clash at Kenilworth Road! 💫#LTFCvDCFC— Derby County (@dcfcofficial) January 28, 2020
Our guys in the Championship almost always start. Miazga now (and CCV before the break) are exceptions.
Wish this one was televised. Set to be on ESPN+ on Friday... so looking forward to that.... it would be just my luck if he was moved to the bench for that one like the FA Cup game.
