0 shots on goal for Derby at the 83' mark. No one can shoot straight, including Holmes, whose best attempt was a soft ball straight to the keeper (and that was going outside anyway, had the keeper let it roll).

PS: Holmes was subbed out at 77'. Fulham scores again, 3-0.

Roos kicked it right to Mitrovic, who only had to make the pass to Cairney for him to score.

I watched the last 20 minutes or so. Duane looked good and got some praise from the commentators. He made a run through a Cameron tackle attempt and drove forward to start one of the few moves where Derby looked dangerous. (Cameron received a yellow after the play). For a smallish guy he holds up well in challenges - he did some key defending.

That's a much under-rated part of his skillset.

Both ways in fact; he's pretty effective when challenging guys trying to make/start breaks from their own half.

    Comments today from dcfc board:

“Holmes is the only useable senior player in there.”

“And the worry is holmes has hardly been on fire of late

ok today in patches but for me this season he’s looked very average, I like him he’s a good little player I’m just not sure we know his position

centrally he’s too lightweight and his final ball is lacking, he’s also not a goal threat

he’s brilliant at changing pace and going through the gears , I thought when he arrived he started out wide and got moved centrally ... and always wandered why

but I’ll be worried going into a busy period if our middle of the park is him and Evans, greatest of respect to the pair but that’s as average as it gets in this average league “

“Holmes - 8 tried all game and was our best player by a long mile. He was direct and very skillful. Always turned his man and had decent decision making today I thought. Well done Rkid ”

    “Holmes good in spells too.”

“Holmes 7 - one of the few willing to take risks and put a foot in.”

    “Holmes had some good moments”

Pretty much. Guy could carve a nice career in middle-of-the-pack Championship teams.

Coming into today, Derby has scored just 2 goals in its last 5 Championship games.

That's not going to cut it

Yup... And you can add another 45' to that. I wonder if there is any interest in Holmes as a loan player? He is signed until 2021 and I would like to see him playing in a top flight Euro league. Seems like a good player for the Bundesliga.

Why would anyone in the Bundesliga want a Championship midfielder with 0 goals and 1 assist in 16 games?

Derby is only 6 points clear of the relegation zone right now and is trending in the wrong direction. Holmes is one of their better players and Wayne Rooney is going to start playing for them soon. They're not selling Holmes right now.

I like Holmes because I like his defense and his scrappy play. He is well rounded. BUT his offensive numbers aren't going to jump out at anyone right now.

It depends on whether he is playing the majority of his games at CDM or not. The only two games I saw him in this year he was playing CDM... and you can play great at that position w/o getting goals/assists... Lastly, remember... we are talking about Derby County here... No one is scoring on that team.

Good point. I am eager to see if they can turn it around when he takes the field. Not sure he will be enough.

Well, Derby at least scored and played to a 1-1 draw. Their goal was off a penalty drawn by Jack Marriott and converted by Chris Martin. A terrible penalty call, BTW, that really hasn’t done anything to alter Derby’s woeful offensive run over the last 6 games

Holmes is a workhorse, comparable to several MLSers. Derby is lacking in imagination up front and that is what Mount gave them.

Now Mount is with Chelski and Holmes, who was expected to take on that role, has failed to produce.

    He is not.

    6 at center mid
    8 at attacking mid
    2 at right mid
    1 at right back

Right. So why would any Bundesliga team be interested in a player failing to contribute to a Championship attack from the center of the park?

And a hell of a lot of BL sides would balk at the wages/wage demands of a starter for a well-resourced Championship side that is targeting the playoff places. Ask Danny Williams about the difference swapping rotator in BL1 for Championship starter (at one of the poorest teams) made to his pay packet. Holmes can get at least 750k Sterling a year in England. For that kind of money the BL bottom third would expect him to chip in a half-dozen goals and double figures in assists every season. Then they'd think about it.

well it is a team sport....obviously the same player can have much different stats depending on which teammates they are lucky enough to have....

pretty sure holmes would have a bunch of "production" if he had played 16 games for say bayern munich this year.....and not the scrubs that he is saddled with now....you dont get credit for a good pass if your teammate misses the shot....

what is derby doing when holmes is out of the game¿ are they lighting it up¿?
