At this point, something is up. Japan is not deep enough to not call up Chase. I haven't watched Chase, but a few people said he is a decent CB. Chase might not be a world-class or elite CB, but all he can bring is depth and stability. I will take that. What do you all think?
Can't be bad......................................... ......................but hard for any of us to know what it means. I know there are these internet rumors that he's declined these callups, but I haven't seen that from reputable reporters. Maybe there are Japanese reports that I haven't seen. If he was going to be with the US for their November camp, he'd have to have filed his one-time switch by now. We'd likely have heard about it. The hopeful outlook is that he hasn't accepted these call-ups (if they've been offered) because he doesn't want to cap-tie himself. That at this time he wants to keep his options open.
1854444483368063143 is not a valid tweet id This has to be Austyn Jones. It could be Keehan, Okoduwa, or Kairo Smith-Phillips but those seem unlikely. Everyone else already has a youth camp.
We were told that a high level player(Straight to the Senior Team) was doing one time switch paper work. Nene Brown would not have been lock for this when it was reported. Signs continue to point at Chase.
There really are no signs pointing anywhere. It's all internet gossip. There are no actual signs pointing to anything with Nathaniel Brown. I don't think he's ever once commented on the US program. People are making up signs that they want to see. Reading tea leaves and guessing. But we remain hopeful. We're fans. We're allowed to be a little crazy and see things that aren't there. None of the youth camps in the November window are cap-tying in any way. So its a good time for kids to go to a camp and check out our program. To me, the most urgent of the youth camps is the U17s. They're preparing for the U17 World Cup in March. Not many more chances to cast a net before really finalizing a roster. So a kid like....................Austyn Jones of Ajax............would be exactly the kind of player to bring in there. That's a good guess.
Anrie Chase not being called up twice for Japan especially this window when they are missing Center Backs might just be a sign.
Here's my thing. No one knew that Balogun, Lund or Tillmen until the roster was drop the Same thing with Poch. USSF is trying to keep everything inside the house and no leaks.
No one has said that there's a dual nat in the roster. There's a 50/50% chance that there's a new player. I would like to see okoduwa but I will not be mad if it's Jones.
Yeah you are not going to convince me Japan didn't feel he was worthy of a callup. Especially when they know he is a dual national and that other team is one that excels in dual national poaching. This is the last window until March I believe. So we shall see when our roster drops.
THere was some confirmation I saw once that BOTH of Austyn Jones' parents are American. [I misspoke above. He's at PSV and not Ajax.] And there were rumors that he'd accepted a call-up in the past but had to pull out due to injury. That one is not much of a surprise. A nice get, but one we heard was in the pipeline. 1854557709074407863 is not a valid tweet id
All I can think of is how thoroughly sideways developmental trend lines have gone with guys like Reyna, Richards, Dest, Adams, Turner, Musah, hell even Pepi, and Sargent and on and on. Sometimes things go really sideways or outright downhill. All of us knew the potential for our prospects to not hit their ceilings, but for Reyna to get sabotaged by injuries, Dest to go to some hellscape from like 2020-2023 after having a bidding war between BM and Barcelona, for Richards to go from looking great with BM and Hoffenheim to disappointment at Crystal Place and the shirt, for Adams to spend more time injured '19-'21, and '23-'24 than healthy, Musah to just stall, Turner to get infinitely worse after going to Europe, Pepi to lose a WC slot basically because he went to Augsburg, Sargent to go from the striker of choice in '19, to out of the pool for the bulk of late '21 to '24.....It can always get much, much worse, as Suyunty always used to bet on.
a few points. That Real Madrid game……. Wow. Musuh played his best game for club or country in months on that one. Hope he’s turning a corner there. Absolutely stand up performance. Turner had a great cup match in that villa upset that said, your overall point stands fairly. Form is a real thing. Even mbappe understands that currently
With Musah, I just need a season to go really well. Basically Valencia days were him being played out wide, or played centrally, never being goal dangerous, never quite finding his role, and AC Milan year was was basically a demotion as they used him more as a rotational bench player worth what, 1/3 to 1/4 of starts available. I need to see him just have a good to very good club year to buy his development being more upward than flat/down which it's seemed since he signed on with us 3+ years ago. Cautiously optimistic. At bare minimum, he can easily replace LDLT as the best ball carrier transition guy from D to attack, hoping for more. I need a good year from Turner, a good year, and I'm not gonna get it .
I assume you saw that article about how recently Chase started playing soccer? His development has basically all been in the last couple of years. Good sign on the "could get better" front. I'm not sure why Turner was mentioned in the post directly above this one, but seems like the Turner of CBs on that front. The best thing about this is CCV not even being listed lol
I have viewed the possibility of Chase coming over to the US as unlikely so I have yet to even tune in to see how well he plays. The fact that he is starting for a good BL side at his age means he has talent and it does look like his star was a little late to rise. He looks like he has pretty good size. Is he fast and physical? Is he good w/ the ball at his feet? Can he pick a pass and a field switch? Anyone w/ an honest opinion based on his recent body of work?
