Chase's YNT experience is all for Japan. Seems like an unlikely switch candidate to me.... especially if a full Japanese cap in a WCQ game is on the horizon.
The rumor was for someone that would go straight to the Senior team. Alex would not qualify. And Luca may not.
It feels like we're trying to do a lot of detective work when there's other possibilities. 1. The guy who originally reported there was a one time switch happening was full of shit 2. The guys "reporting" that it's not Chase or Luca are full of shit. 3. It's gonna be completely out of left field, and we're gonna find out some random French 22 year old in Ligue 1 has an American Mom or something
We'll keep trying until he's cap-tied. ........................but I've never seen one comment from Chase indicating he's interested. Its endless columns and tweets and social media posts from the usual suspects about how the US should be in for him. But there's never any actual evidence he's interested in any way. Then these people get mad and blame the USSF for "losing" a player like this. We never had him! We're not losing anything. He's never shown any interest. This one has always seemed extremely unlikely. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be trying behind the scenes. [And just because we don't hear anything about them trying doesn't mean they haven't been in touch.] Everyone should take all of those social media accounts with a giant grain of salt. It doesn't mean we can't post them. Gossiping about this stuff is fun as fans. But for heaven's sake, people go down rabbit holes believing this stuff is gospel.
Again the guy that reported a top player who was filing a one time switch is the first person to report Poch. Until it does not pan out you and I are both guessing. Me for the best and you for the worst. This window we might get our answer.
I could have sworn the initial Poch reports came out of Argentina, though I admit I'm going off memory here so maybe I'm wrong The Tweet the guy has pinned at the top of his profile is from August 14th, here's an Athletic Article from 6 days earlier https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5689027/2024/08/08/mauricio-pochettino-usmnt-coach/ I think he might be full of shit
In all the weeks that we have been discussing this, this is the first time I have seen the Athletic article. I can't read the whole article but see it dated as you stated. Back to the dual nats he is not the only source on the story.
But is he not the one responsible for the claim that came out afternoon of The Panama game, that a dual nat who played in a top league was filing his switch? Did other credible people expand on that? Already in general it's a tad fishy that the guy has plenty of info on the dual nat, but not his name
He’s a reporter not inside US Soccer house. He could have the info that “someone has switched” and have no name specifically. That’s actually not uncommon when it comes to reporting.
The processing of the switch doesn’t take that long it’s gathering the paperwork and what not. But given the timing of the initial report if it was happening it would be done by the November window.
Was a joke, but let's see if we can nab someone good. who are these others that have seconded it? all I have seen so far was his Tweet. Nothing even from Edgar yet about this phantasmagorical "top league dual-nat OTS" (SB - first time I have ever used phantasmagoric and I am damned proud! lol)
If Kristoffer Lund can't even start in Serie B, let's hope Poch has contacted Nathaniel Brown about switching to the US... 1853170446268576135 is not a valid tweet id
I'm sure we've been in touch with Brown, because that's what we do. He's in a similar position to Koleosho. He's provisionally cap-tied to Germany and is on track to be in their squad for the UEFA U21 Championships upcoming in 2025. Germany cruised thru qualifying and will play in the event. [As will Italy for Koleosho.] Brown was born in Germany, raised completely in Germany, and has only ever been in the German football system. Sometimes in these cases we have to wait it out until the German option doesn't seem viable (like Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones, and others). The timeline is faster if the Germany option doesn't seem to exist (like Timmy Chandler, who was never called up by Germany at the youth levels. John Anthony Brooks didn't seem to be of interest to them. He had one Germany U20 cap after he had already played for us.). But that's not the case here with Brown. Like Anrie Chase, I've never seen one interview or article with any quotes or comments from Nathaniel Brown indicating he's interested in playing for the US. Hopefully somebody asks him soon.
Brown was allegedly ready to commit to the US for the olympics at one point if you believe Edgar Moreno but then Germany called him to the u21s
Brown has appeared to suddenly become a starter for the #3 team in the Bund. He scored in the last game and had a high fot mob rating for his last game
