Looks like those are the teams he supports... could mean something or could be a coincidence... based on those I'm guessing he's in the bay area. If he has some inside source and also reported the Gregg news and the Poch news, that would seem to suggest his source is in US Soccer and not the Japanese federation. @s04 | @ SJEarthquakes | @ pompey | @ USMNT | @jfa_samuraiblue | @SanJoseSharks
There hasn't been anything said by a reputable reporter about either Koleosho or Chase. Its twitter gossip. Its the world of social media gossip. Tweet something extremely vague that really says nothing. US soccer working on a dual-national. Surprise, surprise. The US is always working on dual nationals. Then when we inevitably do get a dual-national, as we do with some regularity, you can say that you got it right. The tweeter says he has "top flight experience." That can literally mean anything. That can be Fidel Barajas, who has played in the "top flight" of Mexico and the US. just make the tweet so vague that you can make any player that switches this year fit.
Okay but Poch to the USMNT on August 14 isn't "vague"? Per insider sources: Mauricio Pochettino is CONFIRMED to be the USMNT head coach. The former Chelsea manager is set to be unveiled as the new coach this week and will lead the USMNT at the 2026 World Cup ✅#USMNT pic.twitter.com/EYKYonsKIs— Andrew 🇺🇸🇩🇪 (@Andrew_S04_) August 14, 2024
Oh yes. Say one thing right for every 30 you get wrong. Claim victory. Rack up gullible twitter followers who don't even know what your name actually is.
Is it so hard to believe this gentleman heard from a reputable source that a vet with top experience will file a one time switch? I don’t. He probably can’t say who exactly or the source will cut him off.
I think given he showed credibility breaking Pochettino before anyone else I take him seriously. And also something like this if it’s true will break soon. So it’s verifiable.
Exactly. It's not like we get guys filing one time switches every day. We'll know if it was real of bs in a month or two.
The link to the Japanese National team leads to a page in Japanese. I didn't see a way to translate it so Andrew must read that language which gives him an advantage that we don't have.
If true, my money is on Chase before Koleosho, simply on the fact that Koleosho is in an Italian camp, meanwhile Chase is not in Japan camp. And it probably helps that he could probably walk into our line up.
Agreed. Richards and McKenzie could push him on the bench (or not). Either way, it’ll be a good thing to have 3 good (although not necessarily elite) options in order to rotate. And the fact that Chase is so young is additional bonus.
First off, you don't tweet about this if it is not Chase or Koleosho... it would be non-news for anyone else. If you were to ask me a week ago who I thought was more likely, I would have said Koleosho. He is further buried in the depth chart and has more ties to the US, although both have way more ties to the US than some of our recent gets. Koleosho has no reason to do it now. Italy isn't forcing the question, the US isn't doing anything meaningful for a while, and he's literally in an Italy camp right now. Chase has more mystery. Basically, he wasn't called up or refused to for Japan. I cannot imagine that one side isn't pissed. If Chase turned it down, fearing being cap-tied by a late minute sub and then falling out of favor with a coach or the FA in the future; Japan could be saying, commit now or we will have issues down the line. If Chase didn't get the call, he could be pissed seeing how 2 domestic defenders without caps got the call over him and has decided to make the decision. It doesn't help that Japan has always had problems with nationality of its people which does not help someone like Chase. If Chase is a starter, it probably doesn't matter, but if he is 4th on the depth chart at CB for the World Cup, he could be kept off completely. tl;dr there's smoke for Chase, way more likely there is a fire.
I don't know how long the process takes, but in any case we'll know soon enough Track my man Andrew’s reports. A lot of people doubting and hating on him but he’s delivered twice. Let’s see if we go 3/3. Gonna be hard for the haters to say he’s guessing if he’s got this one nailed down. Do we have our very own Woj in USMNT community? https://t.co/ha8Q5dOICm— USMNT_STAN (@StanUsmnt) October 13, 2024
I like Koleosho of course, but he walks in over Weah/Tillman/Reyna/Aaronson/ McKennie/ Musah/etc...? How? It's an open comp for the other two "offensive midfielders" after Puli.
What was the other thing he got right other than Pochettino? The thing is if the paperwork is being gathered that part takes time, but if it’s being filed with FIFA we should hear pretty quickly.
^ I believe the other was Berhalter I think you're just listing guys and many of them aren't really relevant comparisons. Reyna is usually an attacking midfielder, same with Tillman. McKennie and Musah are usually midfielders. So that leaves Weah and Aaronson for the non-Pulisic winger role. Both decent but not the toughest competition. Really after those two you're getting to guys like Haji Wright, Zendejas, Paredes, Cowell... Luna if he ever got a call up.
Koleosho has 6 goals and 1 assist in 28 games worth of minutes at senior level. He has 2 goals and 0 assists in 640 minutes league play in this season's C'ship. Haji Wright as 3g/0a in 570 minutes in the same damn league.
Koleosho puzzles me. At least with Chase, he could be used as the fourth CB with the Japan first team. Is Koleosho even a stater for Italy U21? Is he better than Francesco, Wilfried, and Baldanzi? I have been watching Koeosho here and there for the club. He hasn't impressed me enough to get an Italy first-team call-up. Koleosho needs to answer this question first: Does he want to have an international career? I see him getting a call-up with Italy here and there, but not consistently. So what's the wait?
That SkySports profile probably explains it pretty well. Chase is very raw and has barely won over his club coaches who see him all the time. It’s probably going to be a bit for the JFA to catch up.
