Not that I disagree about Chase, but in a few months it'll have one in Noahkai Banks (Augsburg) It's fun to see Banks drive the ball up field. He doesn't look awkward or too stiff on the ball, he looks very comfortable. I haven't seen this before from a US center back.— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) October 12, 2024
Thread on Anrie Chase Nate Weiss (🇺🇸 coach formerly at VfB Stuttgart, now at Bayern Munich) on Anrie Chase:“All the other kids had seven years more experience than he had. But this kid was obsessed with getting better. There was not a moment when he did not want to train." https://t.co/OG6yHV0t5b— USA Ballers Abroad ⚽️ (@USBallersAbroad) October 12, 2024 “He has a profile that a lot of players do not have. He is a giant. He is very strong. He is fast. He is incredible in the air. So, if we could just get him to do the simple things, he would be great. It was about getting the basics right so he was clean and consistent." Article: https://www.skysports.com/football/...kely-rise-and-a-birth-of-fire-in-the-bernabeu
I think Luca Koleosho is the most likely candidate. He played for Espanyol, where Pochettino started in coaching. It's located in Barcelona where Poch spent time this summer. Luca reached and scored in PL mainly on his own efforts. Both he and his Mom are US-based so they can follow the news more easily, which may have led to a belief that the US now has a coach that can help a player's career with his connections. Luca's played in Spain, England, and qualifies as an Italian citizen for Serie A. This could put him in a favorable spot when trying to find balance for a greater salary and a higher performing club. Poch may have hinted at the need to limit Pulisic minutes and playing Aaronson at one position, which he identified as midfielder. This could provide Koleosho with 'guaranteed' minutes if he's sharing a wide winger role with Pulisic and Weah, while other attackers are filled out by strikers that also play inside winger roles.
We may have American coach Nate Weiss to thank if Chase switches to the US “Two years ago, he was in the second team and he was on the bench,” Weiss tells Sky Sports. Chase had the physical attributes in his favour but the rough edges were too much for some to ignore. “It was very hard for a lot of coaches to see the talent in him.” Weiss, Stuttgart’s American first-team coach, now working within the setup at Bayern Munich, did see it, warming to Chase partly due to their shared heritage. They would spend hours getting him up to speed, the work often instigated by the player himself.
Luca would have to have told Italy during his U call up. Chase supposedly was not called for Japan. Maybe he had already told them no.
Now that I think about it, I would rather this be Chase than Koleosho, because with Chase there's concern Japanese-American dual nats wouldn't switch because they may lose their citizenship, whereas I expect Koleosho will eventually switch to the US before the World Cup in any case.
It takes a while to get the docs together and the last thing most players would do is request their playing record from the losing fed. It's possible, though I would think most players would turn down the call-up.
I don't know if it was during an England camp. Balogun was on the England U21 roster but did drop out before they played any games.
Chase was called up to Japan but Chase rejected Japan as of now. Japan doesn't have too many CBs either, so it would not make sense for Japan not to try to call him up.
That one reeks of Koleosho to me. I don't know why Chase would make a one-time switch right now. But hey, I hope I'm 100% wrong. If you gave me the choice of the two, I'm taking Chase for positional need.
Yeah, I thought it was something like he was “injured” or “sick” after being called up and then popped up with our guys in Orlando during that window. It’d be weird if Koleosho is actually in an Italy camp as the papers are being filed, so I’m saying it’s Chase.
............but the England senior team wasn't interested in calling Balogun up. His choice was senior USMNT camp or the England U21s for the UEFA U21 Championships. [And by the way, England went on to win that U21 Championships without him. That team was friggin' loaded.] Koleosho is in that same position. He can stay with Italy U21s for the European championships next summer or switch to the senior USMNT. I saw some depth chart for Italy's senior team the other day and Koleosho was like 5th or 6th on this particular one on the wing. It doesn't mean he can't move up the list, but it is an uphill battle. Its sorta why I lean HEAVILY to Koleosho on this one. It just makes 100% sense for him to switch to either Canada or the US. And Pochettino does give us more credibility than Canada. Sorry Jesse. To me it doesn't make as much sense for Chase to file a one-time switch right now. He can take a little more time to think about it if he wants. Unless he's really passionate about playing on the road in Guatemala (or wherever) in the Nations League.
Please show me some proof he definitely refused the call. People are looking. Japan's starting CB pairing is from Bayern/Gladbach.
That's fine as starters, but they also called up two older domestic defenders with no caps. When you're in a battle for a player of his caliber you call him up. Can you imagine how we would feel if our coach didn't call up someone like him who we were in danger of losing? We would lose our minds.
People need to understand that people are not always going to give up their sources that very dumb. Also, Japan's starting CBs are very good but they don't have depth. After Ko Itakura and Hiroki Ito. They don't have the delph to not call up Chase. Hiroki is injured right now. It would be very dumb for Japan to not call up Chase because their depth isn't very good.
Go to Andrew on x.com the guy that reported someone is doing a one-time switch. Look right below his name in blue there is a link to it.
