Smart move for DC United all things considered. They definitely need a goalie right now, and best case Ochoa turns out to be the guy and signs an extension at the end of the season.
I think this makes the US favorites for Balogun Reims are closing on loan deal to sign Folarin Balogun from Arsenal, set to be agreed until June 2023. Balogun has received proposals also from PL clubs but he’s prepared to accept Reims. 🚨🏴 #AFCMedical could take place early next week, waiting for details to be resolved. pic.twitter.com/5U9rKIop0N— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 31, 2022
Full agreement completed between Arsenal and Reims for Folarin Balogun, as reported yesterday. Documents to be signed in the next 24/48h - player will be soon on his way to France in order to undergo medical tests. 🔴🤝 #AFC It's a loan move valid until June 2023. pic.twitter.com/tMjfYur28n— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 1, 2022 If Folarin Balogun produces in Ligue 1 I find it hard to believe he’ll turn down a World Cup spot. Plus a chance to play with his pal Yunus Musah. pic.twitter.com/Lb4Qe9h3Zi— Takes 🇺🇸 (@USMNTTAKES) July 31, 2022 (comment from 2021) What kind of production gets Balogun in the conversation for Qatar?

He's a forward. Has done little to nothing as a first team soccer player. If he wasn't a dual-national, we wouldn't have much to say about him. A soon-to-be 20 year old with three career goals (at Santos Laguna). Not to say he doesn't have potential. There's just been no reason to think of him in connection with a USMNT callup. To date anyway. He was too old for our recent U20 CONCACAF Championships team and the upcoming U20WC. Trivia stat about him is he was a teammate of Ricardo Pepi's with FCD's youth affiliate in El Paso. They're good friends apparently. Crazy front line for a youth team outside of a major market.
He is the size of Ferreira and plays like him. I don't think there is room for him. At least, not for this cycle.
Speaking of forwards, and Pepi teammates... 21 year old Maurice Malone is a German-American dual nat at Augsburg who plays as a center forward... What happens if he has more goals than Pepi going into the World Cup? 🚨MAURICE MALONE GOAL FROM A PEPI ASSIST 🚨🇺🇸🤝🇺🇸#USMNT https://t.co/TDLR7tAglA— USMNT burner (@burnerusmnt) July 23, 2022
Can you explain more indepth why you think this? Has he shown any real interest in playing for the US? Can see if he's great buddies with mUSAh it could be easier to see him switch.
I think the England national team's interest in players drops a few orders of magnitude if they're not playing in the Premier League, whereas as long as he is playing and productive in a top five league I don't think that matters to the US. The England fans I know think Jadon Sancho is a fraud and Jude Bellingham hasn't proven anything yet because he's only done it in Germany... they are hardly going to get excited by a player scoring goals for Reims in a 'Farmers league'...
If the US loses Vazquez to El Tri I swear I will start a riot in front of soccer house Tata coached him in Atlanta .. 👀— herculez gomez (@herculezg) August 1, 2022
I don’t think Mexico is going to push this cycle at least. For better or worse Tata is pretty locked into his three 9s for the World Cup. Next cycle though might be a different story.

Amir Richardson also to Reims CM, Amir Richardson (2002)Looks like Reims is going to buy for 3M and then loan back to Le Havre for the season. I like it! https://t.co/BTvZiBbVq1— Marcus Chairez (@chai_asc) August 3, 2022 So that's Balogun, Richardson, Kobi Henry...
would be very valid anger. Vasquez has made one of the forward spots, for me. Hes knocking them in at the level an MLSer would have to in order to get into the picture.
Get on it Gregg Jonathan Gomez ('03) present at what looks to be Real Sociedad media day. It does appear that he'll be with the first team. https://t.co/xOpZ3tBpGY— USMNTProspects (@ProspectsUsmnt) August 3, 2022 👀 Massive.Reminder that USMNT still does not have a true LB2. JoGo is the most talented Mexican-American that has yet to commit to either Fed. https://t.co/CowOMCfAR5— Marcus Chairez (@chai_asc) August 3, 2022
Don't be so sure. Jimenez just got injured a few days ago. Mexico will probably take three CFs Jimenez (if he recovers in time), Funes Mori and... the best CF available.
JOGO is up for grabs, but he is not ready for the international game. His attacking game is tops but many have pointed out his defensive issues AND the fact, that he doesn't have recovery speed.
Tata Martino has basically already said he’s taking Jimenez, Funes Mori, and Santiago Giménez as his three forwards. Jimenez’s injury is not a long term one and he’s expected back in a couple weeks. Any of the 3 could of course get injured before the World Cup, but Vazquez appears nowhere near Mexico’s radar at current. Now that could very well change next year post World Cup under a new coach.
Looks to be longer. Wolves are looking for a replacement. Wolves working on ‘loan signing’ to replace Raul Jimenez at Molineux (givemesport.com)

IMO, Galaxy need to sell asap before his value goes down even more. 🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/orCmFpI989— Galaxy Fan Talk (@LAGalaxyFanTalk) August 3, 2022
And then belz gets me to change my mind again on scuffed. Just kidding, sort of. Only 12 touches a game? What do our other guys average? Sounds like Ferreira is 20+?
