bini may not pick all the best players available but the squad was probably almost set in stone in cyprus and it all looks eminently logical. having two fullbacks on such form made his backline decision for him and i'm now convinced he'll let bussaglia do the same at the last starting spot still undecided: if she proves she's dependably and not just occasionally better than soubeyrand the job will be hers. que veut le peuple?
AMANDINE HENRY!!!!!! crie la foule...... Anyway , bussaglia is a very good player but against physical teams she will suffer a lot ......she's got not chance to match lloyd and boxx strenght.......that's why i think in "mama soub" still the best option against the americans.....as amandine will certainly not be there . Am i the only one to think that the USA are regressing and could be eliminated in the quarter if they plya against france, japan,UK or sweden ?
The draw is in the morning followed by a workshop apparently : tweet by Faye White : So about this time next week we will know who will make up #TeamGB Women's & Men's Olympic Football Groups! Draw is 11am April 24
Huh , I guess you haven't seen the worlds smallest mid-field play USA lately then? Japan have been more than comfortable with ruff and tumble of Llyod and Boxx, so I can't see why Bussaglia would be more prone to the run and gun play of USA while she's part of the technically better team. France, or should that be Bini, need to focus on tactically defending the long ball correctly, not their already solid mid-field play. No, your not alone, but I will say any signs of U.S. regression are only visible with others continued improvement. USA down the years have actually steadily improved the effectiveness of how they choose to do things, slowing the pace of the eventual overhaul their system of play will need. So as long as teams continue to fail with adjusting to USA's increasingly obvious play, they will remain very relevant for the final stages of many more tournaments. The selection process of team GB could be the difference between an interesting wide open tournament, and another straight forward top 3 final podium.
Work in progress, started at Cyprus Cup A Hope Powell selection is just poo at least she won't be able to select Ms 14% long ball acurracy.
if you mean the long legs of wendie renard and corinne franco being able to run down just about anything and anyone that gets behind the lines, the work was done long ago, but by patrice lair, and BB has finally swallowed his pride and decided to copy/paste it.
The games against England and Canada saw the team abandon a bit the possession based style to leave the ball a bit more to the opposition and try to defend in a more compact way. Something that didnt happen at the world cup as much as needed.
Not regressing but the others are catching up. I still hold US a favorite against all of the mentioned except perhaps Japan, but a loss against any of the teams mentioned would not be surprising.
if being due meant anything, i think we would have known it by now. explosive metaphors are also an unfortunate choice here.
Huh? When the history books have 20+ wins for USA vs 1 win for Japan, who's more due . To be honest, if your still a disgruntled U.S. fan with WWC post traumatic stress, just be thankful another nation announced it's self to the world as a serious contender, without the all noise of the previous two WC's .
well, that may have been beneath me. but primo, there was nothing wrong with the english in And G's post. secundo, if you're able speak their language better than they do yours, it's simply unkind to criticize other people's english; if you can't, it's boorish and vulgar.
the nice thing about the women's game, is that at least 6 nations now have a legitimate chance of winning a major tournament championship (back in the day, it was USA, Norway, and China, even before Germany emerged as a championship threat in 2003) USA Germany Japan Brazil France Sweden Those are the Tier-1 nations now, and those six nations come from four different continental regions (UEFA, AFC, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL) Tier-2 features: England, Canada, North Korea, Australia, Norway, Italy Tier-3 features: Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, New Zealand, Mexico, China, Nigeria, South Korea, Russia, Finland, Switzerland, Colombia Italy is strong, stronger than they've ever been, or at least in a long time. They are ranked #11 now, but will break into the Top 10 soon. Spain will be Tier-2 within 5 years, and Tier-1 within 10 years.
I have received word from a source the pots are: Pot 1: GBR, SWE, FRA Pot 2: CMR, RSA, COL Pot 3: JPN, PRK, NZL Pot 4: USA, CAN, BRA
For the men's draw: POT 1: GBR, ESP, SUI, BLR POT 2: BRA, URU, MEX, HON POT 3: JPN, KOR, UAE, OMA/NZL Pot 4: EGY, GAB, MAR, SEN/NZL
Yes but the other key to the draw is that Great Britain, the US and Japan were seeded directly into the 3 groups, keeping them apart in group play. I'm surprised no one has posted this yet: FIFA's announcement on the seedings and the pots for the draw: http://www.fifa.com/mensolympic/news/newsid=1619296/index.html US will play its first 2 games in Glasgow and its final group game at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. (The opponents of course will be determined by tomorrow's draw)
Group E: Great Britain, New Zealand, Cameroon, Brazil Group F: Japan, Canada, Sweden, South Africa Group G: USA, France, Colombia, Korea DPR
