If you want to see what Dragon Stadium looks like with a full crowd, Put on ESPN2. It's weird to see the black end zones on t.v. I feel like I'm watching the scoring highlights from last years MLS Wrap, as well.
Hey, at least we now know it's possible for the home team to score in DS on television. Never seemed to happen while I was watching.
And this act alone produced more noise in the library section than was herad during the entire 2003 season.
Does anybody think that just maybe the fact that ESPN2 had broadcast Burn games from Dragon before played into the decision of showing the high school game last night? They certainly were familiar with the facilities.
Southlake Carroll is one of the best high school teams in the nation. That is why the game was on ESPN2. Their passing familiarity with Dragon Stadium was just an incidental bonus.
I believe SC is actually rated #1 in the nation in HS pointyball. Their stadium is rated last in the world for professional soccer, IMHO. When I saw the title of this thread, my first thought was "oh sh!t, what is happening now..."
I think the release of "Friday Night Lights" has a LOT more to do with it. And the fact that these are two ex-State champs playing. In order to get a better game between two powerhouses ESPN would have had to wait until the latter stages of the playoffs, and by then the "Friday Night Lights" phenomenon would be largely over.
I was hoping to never see an image of the stadium again. I just glanced at it to remind my retinas what the end zones looked like. My retinas remembered.
I realize that "friday night lights" was the driving force behind this, but they still had to decide which Texas high school to showcase since Permian isn't what it once was. I'm sure that the discussion at ESPN land went something like this. - "What high school stadium in Texas is TV friendly?" - Uff, there are many of them. - "Have we worked at any one of them?" - Yes, and get this they are ranked #1 in Texas. - "Bonus. Let's just say that they are #1 in the nation." - If we report it, it must be true! - "Move over LeBron!"
I agree. That Midland Lee QB was punishing the Odessa Permian defense badly. As I stopped watching the Carroll-Ryan game at halftime. The Sucklake's black end zones were hurting my eye.
i disagree. Dragon should be a sticky for life. Just to remind everyone how bad it once was and how good it will be.
we're gonna sticky this like we did the Adu-screwing thread so we can wallow in our angst? we need happy thoughts tomorrow, dammit!!!
