I feel like I get the difference between these 3 about 70% of the time, but there are times when I am less confident. I looked at MLSNet and could not find any information about this. Could someone who knows for sure, flesh this out for me. Specifically, I would like to know 1) How is it decided whether a certain player will be drafted, allocated, or discovered? 2) What is the lifespan of an allocation? Non-playoff teams get an allocation each, but previously allocated players can be replaced with an allocation when they leave the league. Without some sort of expiration there would be a pile of allocations out there by now. 3) How are discovery slots decided? Who gets them? How many? They aren't replaceable like allocations...are they? I am sure I will think of more questions but this would be a great start. I promise I will print it and keep it forever.
