Israel warmly welcomed Rice's naming to the post, with Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom saying: "She is a true friend to Israel. Her friendship toward Israel is very deep and stems from religious feelings and deep faith." Uh-oh.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1352978,00.html With the promotion of Ms Rice, 50, from national security adviser to secretary of state, Mr Bush rids his administration of its last dissenting voice in Colin Powell, enabling it to project a united front on foreign policy. "During the last four years I've relied on her counsel, benefited from her great experience, and appreciated her sound and steady judgment," Mr Bush said. --------that's reassuring. Mr Bush sketched out his foreign policy ambitions for a second term: confronting outlaw regimes and nuclear proliferators, breaking up terror networks, and regime change. "The United States has undertaken a great calling of history to aid the forces of reform and freedom in the broader Middle East so that that region can grow in hope," he said. Ms Rice signalled she would live up to her reputation as a Bush family loyalist. "Under your leadership, America is fighting and winning the war on terror," she said. --------that's a joke, right? Several Washington analysts said yesterday that Ms Rice's strongest qualification for the job was her close friendship with Mr Bush. The warmth of that relationship was on display yesterday, with Ms Rice close to tears as Mr Bush welcomed her to the post. Some argued that, despite her academic record - Ms Rice is an expert on the former Soviet Union - and her long service to the Bush family, she was not equipped to serve as America's ambassador to the world. "Condoleezza Rice was loyal to the president, and clearly has his confidence, but she never really managed the inter-agency process the way a national security adviser should," said Joseph Cirincione, an arms control expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. "Most of the world will see Condi Rice as a step down from Colin Powell, and they would be right. She doesn't bring much experience or knowledge of the world to this position." ------Ah! Now I get it!!! A lapdog to do the master's (masters?) bidding.
Learn what? Where and when to use an apostrophe? Rice is indicative of the Bush tryanny; failed, evil, and ignorant, with gun power and starvation power only. Enjoy.
I now wonder what 'an expert on the Soviet Union' means in Bush-speak. Probably that she's paranoid about communism.
I defend this post mate. If her role is just going to be to kiss bushes arse in international circles WTF is that? shes just a propagandist - and not even a good one.
First off she's an awful public speaker (and by awful I mean boring as one can possibly get) And the comparison isn't apt* becasue Goebbels was competent at his job. * (I mean aside from the whole thug reg...uh taking over the world...uh, supporting a regime that came to power - Oh wait actually the Nazis probably came to power in a less shadier fashion...or not supporting a megalo...or stomping on people's righ...) damn there really isn't that much difference. I wonder when Rove gets fitted for his new SS uniform? And does this mean Hello Kitty becomes Undersecretary of State? - OK, I'm being a bit unfair here. The Bush regime would never kill six million Jews. Arabs and Persians OTOH...
"gun power"? Mel is scared to death of a woman with power; doubly more so because Dr. Rice is a black conservative woman: truly the stuff of Mel Brennan's inner nighmares! Oh yeah: 'stuff the apostrophe!
She was Bush I's advisor on the Soviet Union. She failed to foresee the demise of the Soviet Union. Has she ever done anything correctly in during her time in public service? I know several people who know her through her time at Stanford. The recurring word to describe her is "unexceptional."
Just like millions of us, Ms. Rice is yet another former Democrat who became an ardent Republican. How much talent has the Democratic Party bled away over the years into the Republican ranks? It's astounding. I suppose thanks are in order. As horrifying and pathetic as the attacks on this wonderful woman are, it almost does my cynical heart good to see how disgracefully and ungraciously Democrats are beating up on any and all Republicans who will be part of the new, re-formed Administration. Your poor wishes for this country over the next four years are an indication of the level of self-loathing to which many of you have succumbed. You will continue to pay the price in election after election until you realize that Americans are looking for positive and bold leadership, not childish ridicule and belittling. Far from the "deck chairs on the Titanic" or "rats leaving a sinking ship" crap you fools have been spewing on thread after thread, President Bush is letting us know that he has no intention of sitting on his behind and twiddling his thumbs during his second term. He is putting together a dynamic cabinet that will be on the same page and moving in the same direction. After four years, George W. Bush knows what he wants and knows what kind of team can deliver. That's why these changes are happening with lightening speed and efficency. And in conjunction with the solidly Republican Congress, I am prepared to be excited by what we may see. This will certainly not be what most second terms become--an engine running out of gas. The energy is on abundant display. We are losing some good people from the cabinet who were not able to complete their agendas or see their ideas come to fruition because of the attack on 9/11 and the need to fight a war on terror on several fronts. Therefore, the Republican domestic agenda will need to be asserted anew and with vigor. I've no doubt it will be, as the president's remarks concerning spending political capital indicate. There's nothing any of you dissenters can do about it except go along for the ride. If you don't like it, that's fine. Keep making fun of your country and the Republican Party. But you will not be able to stop our forward motion and your temper tantrums are indicative of how out of touch you are and how, sadly, common sense and decency are no longer part of the Democratic make-up. That's the nicest way I can put it--not that spoiled brats in the habit of calling Condi Rice a Nazi deserve to be treated nicely.
Rubbish bad. Riddance good. She literally might as well have been a spy for Bin Laden all this time. She couldn't possibly have done a worse job.
What has Condi ever done right? She missed the demise of the Soviet Union, she missed 9/11, and she hasn't done squat for Iraq or the War on Terror. Comparing her to Goebbels does not make sense.
