Hope someone clicks into this forum.

Anyone like the artist: "Blue States"? He's one of my favorites - Nothing Changes Under the Sun was an awesome release, and while I didn't give it the best review in the world on Amazon.com, "Man Mountain", his latest, has grown by leaps and bounds on me. It's awesome!

Perhaps it is the heritage kicking in (I guess if you break it down, I am more so French than Brasil thanks to my mother..) and most of the music I have that is chill is French. SO you see Llorca, Reminiscent Quartet and Zimpala styles, etc. Oh yeah, and Costes. Hotel Costes. ANyone like those compilations?

And has anyone heard the CD by Arkestra 1? Or Koop? Just wondering. ANyone have any other recomendations? Merci!

What would you relate his style to, or is it something totally unique (i.e. Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ellington, King, Hooker)?

This is one that can easily been thrown into the World Beat thread but I think you'd like based on the above artists and vibe:

The disc #2 is the "electro" stuff and it's a continuous mix of the chill sort. The Impala Lounge has to be a fantastic place to be.

I really like the new Koop, though I haven't gotten around to looking at the video stuff on the bonus disc that everyone seems to be charged up about.

I also dig the new Royksopp disc, "Melody A.M.", which is more downtempo than up, though there are a few tracks approaching Daft Punk-like beats.

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for some of the more commercial sounding chill compilation records, particularly the Ultra Chill series.

I forgot to mention I have most of the Llorca songs downloaded. I like that jazz-house sound ala St. Germain.

The Ultra Chill series actually has some good stuff - if ever there was a "best of" the commercial stuff, they'd be it.

Blue States - I have absolutely no idea how to classify him. The sound is very airy, very light - heavy instrumentation on the first release, heavy vocals on the second. I'll try to get more info tomorrow - in a rush...

LLorca's pretty good - jazzy like style. If you like that sound - you'd probably dig Remi Quartet.

I'm off to get Koop and hopefully Arkestra 1... we shall see!

Picked up the new Koop CD last night - man, it's pretty sweet. The first four tracks alone are well worth it. I dig Mikael Sundin's lazy, sultry voice. Check out the DVD feature - it has the remix to Summer Sun. That track - the remix to Summer sun is on "Brazilectro Vol. 4". Don't know if you checked out the Brazil threads but I do a lot of comp. I really only heard of Koop through their remixes until that comp.

Oh yeah - you can see what Mikael looks like - she's kinda cute actually!
