Hmmmm.....don't really know what to make of this ...is he really a valid replacement for Ballack? I dunno.......

Why do so many think that Dos Santos will be the replacement for Ballack? To me it is obvious that he is not the replacement for Ballack. How can a talented 22 years old player be the replacement for a 29 years old world class player?

Dos Santos is likely to be the one who will get Scholl's position in the squad in the long term.

    Now..in English

Bayern are closing in on Paraguay midfielder Julio dos Santos, officially declared a transfer target last week, after general manager Uli Hoeneß confirmed reports claiming the player had been spotted arriving in the Bavarian capital. "He's in Munich at the present time," Hoeneß told fcbayern.de on Tuesday afternoon.

Bild speculated (they say it´s a fact, but i don´t trust them very much),
that the transfer with Dos Santos is fixed.
    Transfer fee: 2 million €
additional fee: 500 k €, if DS make a special number of matches
contract should run untl summer 2009.

Ok, this was the part, i think this "could" be truth,
the rest of the article seems to be pure speculation for me,
like Karimi has to go to Collogne, because Bayern has too many
    non-Europeans.

Well, what do we know so far....Karimi hasn't adjusted properly so he won't be his replacement, Deisler is playing great on the right, his form might tip if he is moved to the center. He really looks comfortable on the flank. Schweinsteiger is a better wing player also, putting him in the middle would kinda limit his game. His pace is better used on the flank as well.

Because we haven't really heard of any solid options for his replacement, its only natural to assume.

Thats what Bild Newspaper has to say:

Dos Santos bereits im Winter da – da ist kein Platz mehr für Ali Karimi (27). BILD erfuhr: Der Iraner soll quasi als Anzahlung für Lukas Podolski (20) zum 1. FC Köln wechseln.

means: Dos Santos comes in the winter period but there is no more room for Karimi. Bild found out: The iranian should go to Cologne as an advanced payment for Podolski.

But then again, it's the Bild, an "underclass" newspaper

edit: oh, sorry, Eisenfuß Eilts posted that already

The most likely possibillity is that Deisler will become his successor. And if it won't be Deisler, then there will the signging of another player.

As you already said by yourself Karimi hasn't adjusted so far, and this will be the case for Dos Santos for a long time too! He will at least need a whole season to fully adept and adjust to Bayern, to Germany, to the Bundesliga or the european football, so he can't be the replacement. Bayern has the demand to win titles and for serving thsi demand you can't try such an experiment on such a crucial position. Mayeb Dos Santos take over this position in 2 to 4 years but surely not after this season

Btw: to this Bild rumor Karimi to Cologne. I'm going to add only one thing, this ************ newspaper isn't called "Blöd" (stupid, dumb) for nothing.

edit: Uli already today that Dos Santos has already applied for a spanish passport

Dos Santos has not signed a contract with Cadiz! Read original spanish news about it and you get that. Cadiz may only have a fax from Cerro in which they agreed terms, but there is no contract sigend at all

for the money he signed for I see Dos Santos as a project and we should not expect too much from him immediately.
Anyone knows when he will join the squad? next august or right after the new year?

That depends on his (or of one the Non-Eu players at Bayern) passport status. But Dos Santos already applied for the spanisch passport, so he will join the squad in ther winter term if nothing extraordinary (e.g. not getting the passport) happens.

Besides that, Guerrero is trying to get an italian passport and if not he will try to get the german passport.

Problem keeps, Guerrero has already Spanish citizenship, he is not the problem.

btw: Dos Santos transfer is completed.
Kicker.de reports today, that Bayern confirmed the transfer
and Dos Santos joins Bayern this winter.
Details of the transfer correspond with the ones BILD made public yesterday.
Furthermore kicker reports, that Lucio and Desiler extend their contract (Lucio, 2010, Deisler 2009).

Brilliant!! Great news about Lucio and Deisler.

I am interested in this Dos Santos. Does this spell the end of Karimi's possibility at Attacking Mid or is this just some competition for it? If Ballack leaves and Scholl retires we will need both of them.

This should be a mistake the Kicker once brought up. Kalle self said some days ago that the 4 Non-EU slots are filled, so Guerrero still hasn't a european passport. So the news about him is correct

No, kicker didn´t report that, i looked at transfermarkt.de
and there Guerrero has a Spanish citizenship, maybe they made a mistake.

and Transfermarkt relies on a Kicker sonder edition in which they scheduled Guerrero with a spanish passport. And this can't be true, Kalle's statement some days ago wiped out any doubts about it
