Dos Santos was supposed to come here to play against the Silverbacks' U-18 team but didn't.

So once again fans were raped to see a crappy Mexico U-17 team.

Talking about the U 17 mexican team, I haven't seen them, could anyone that have tell if they are any good?

Because the media in Mexico says little to nothing about them and the few things I've heard are all good, they are undefeated and that they are loaded at the offense.

    An English magazine recently featured an article were they talked about young promising players and their current estimated worth, of course Giovanni was on that list, he was one of the highest ranked, how much does he costs right now;

Well if you want to buy Giovanni you would have to pay at least 1.2 million british pounds (Borgetti costed 1 million), not bad for a 16 year old, of course that considering european regulation that's almost impossible but that's how much they think he's worth right now. The magazine also ads that he's probably good enough to play in the Championship (England's second division).

Other player analyzed was Freddy Adu, he's worth?
    400,000 pounds (1/3 of Giovanni's worth)

Re: Of course Adu is alright, but not god like.

exaclty .. lol I went to a US Forum and I said a small critique about ADU and also said I dont beleive he was 16 and damm i got soo much immature responses and bad feedback points..

To be honest there can be no compariso nbetween ADU and Giovanni dos santos Ramirez, I have seen videois from Givonni in the milk cup , and he is phenomenal , he reminds me so much of Ronaldhino . I was amazed by how his a lefty and has such great talent foot skills , not even to mention how flawless he kicks all corners they look so beautiful , is quite eloqunt elegant to see giovanni play ,

Next comment (Iknow its out of subject ) but Lukke is also great player from barcelona youth team .... Wil become top players in the future for sure....

I'll say they are pretty damn good. Especially en la delantera. Carlos Vela,Ever Guzman, and Giovanni Dos Santos. Here is a link where u can find more information and the latest news on the U 17 team. The link is to page 12 because there is good info there, but there is currently 14 pages on the thread.

You are right, dos santos looks more brazilian than mexican. It's the first thing i thought of when I saw him on tv. Even the last name sounds portuguese!

i'm watching the USA vs korea game, and seriously they suck both of them, that guy adu is nowhere to be seen.

Dos santos and Vela are the future of the country, i heard a comentador from televisa say that Lavolpe should consider him for Germany 2006, because pele was like 15 when he played in the world cup of '50, honestly i think he is good, but not good enough yet, to be in the national team, but deffinitely for '10

I hope you were joking. Adu isn't on the field because he played in the last U-17 World Cup, which means he isn't elgible for this one.

Right now it is impossible to know if Dos Santos or Adu will end up being the better player. But I hope they both become legitimate stars.

His mother is mexican, he was born in Monterrey and he lived and learned to play soccer there, he went to barcelona i believe at the age of 13.

Let's hope that his brother Jonathan (who is 14), is like his older brother or better (like Carlos Vela that it's better than his older brother Alejandro from Chivas)

Regarding that Adu kid, is not gonna be in this tournament, although he's supposed and I remark supposed to be in the range of the category, he's wasn't eligible for this tournament because he played in Finland 2003, by FIFA regulation you can only play once the U17 World Cup. The same goes for the U20 World Cup.

Now as for Dos Santos, I also heard the same dude, Erick Fisher (I believe), and also heard some English fellas over a radio station in the internet that said the same thing. But I agree with you, there's no need to hurry up and take the kid to the major team when he's not ready, but maybe it's not such a bad idea to call him for a concentration with the majors and even play him in the final minutes of a friendly and see how he does, after all is not only us Mexicans or Mexico's fans thinking the guy should be tested with the big team.

This is something I came up after doing my research about Giovanni, I hope you enjoy it, and above all things I hope it makes things straight about Giovanni's background.

    Giovanni Dos Santos Ramirez-The Bio.

He borned in may 11 of 1989 in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. His father is the brazilian Gerardo Dos Santos "Zizinho", former player of the America and the team La Raza of Monterrey in the American indoor soccer league. His mother is the mexican,Liliana Ramirez de Dos Santos, she's regiomontana, just like Giovanni and his little brother Jonathan, one year younger than Giovanni,Jonathan is also a football player in the young ranks of FC Barcelona (unlike Giovanni, Jonathan plays more like a contention in the midfield).

His career started in the young ranks of the club Rayados de Monterrey, he was scouted in an international championship in the city of Monterrey when a young team of Barça played Giovanni's team, four years a go him and his brother got an offer from Barça to join the club, their fathers accepted and moved to Spain a year later, from their arraival the Dos Santos brothers became the sensation with Barça's young teams and among the die hard fans.

Giovanni likes to wear the number 8, but since he always plays with older guys he doesn't get to choose the number he likes, so his alternative number is the 18.

His father often says "He plays better than me" with a simile, and "I hope he never lose the joy of the game".

FIFA has remarked his presence in the U 17 World Cup of Peru 2005, were is hoped a great performance of this kid that confirm his status as the rising star of the Mexican National Team and the FC Barcelona. But Giovanni says " what people say about me in Barcelona or other places is none of my concern, my only concern right now is Mexico".
