Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) Philly fans will be the Milwall of MLS that's for sure... And yet another Philly - Millwall link... When Philly comes to MLS they should chose Millwall rather than West Ham to partner with.
Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) Philly in the league would be brilliant... but the importance of adding the 4th largest medial market would only be valuable to the league when the TV contracts come up next (still more than a few years off, IIRC)... I think that MLS would want to wait until the stadium has a scheduled completion date since selling the team in a new stadium seems so much more effective (see Toronto)... but 2009 or 2010 will see you guys in the league, for sure (as long as there are no major screw-ups with the stadium)...
Re: Bobby McFerrin (Philly Edition) I think Steve sensationalizes and embellishes the situation a bit in that piece, but it is the Guardian, afterall, for which he was writing.
http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695224157,00.html Article includes mention of iStar Financial's role in the financing. Seems that with funding RSL, owning the land of SJE's dream stadium, and iStar's head Jay Sugarman as part of Philadelphia's investor group that iStar's leaguewide involvement combined with the size of the media market, Philadelphia is a real no-brainer once this gets through the state votes.
