I couldn't be happier that this bum off the team. I no longer have to see Faria crying to the officials, getting beat by sorry-ass defenders, missing penalty kicks and diving in the box (unconvincingly) as soon as someone touches him.

A tip for any Fire fans: When you see Rodrigo pull up his sleeves during a game, you might as well leave the stadium and beat the traffic.

Fool. I hope he doesn't burn us. I have a feeling he will. We have exactly NO DEPTH at the striker position. This should be interesting.

You better hope Mathis isn't true to his word and getting himself into shape for the upcoming USMNT games so he can look good and get to Europe ASAP.

Not even Bob Bradley can make a winner out of a team with no strikers on the roster.

    faria can't do it either.

so, i'll just jump on this last faria bashing thread with a happy good riddance.

would've been a great sub....but if we give up faria to get bradley...that's a deal even a blind squirrel can make....

anyway...in bradley we trust....he will bring forth a partner for cletus...

    buh bye rodrigo

Faria doesn't deserve this. He worked his ass off. Maybe his talent wasn't up to your standards but he gave his heart for our team.

Ya know, MetroFans are very divided when it comes to Faria. Personally I'm gonna miss him. He has more passion for the game then a lot of the players i've ever watched. Only Faria would be sprinting his ass back to play defense when down a goal late in the game. He left it all out there, every game.

Yes, he did miss some key chances...but i honestly feel he is still on his way up. Now every team in MLS has to worry about the speed of Beasley + Faria. I hope he suceeds actually.

Shame to see him go, but it's worth it for Bradley and allocations. I want DeRosario!

The trade for Bradley makes sense, but I'm sorry Faria has to go.

I'm sorry to see the guy go. He gave all he had every game, and for much of last season he was our ONLY goal scorer.

The fact that he was part of the deal that got us Bradley is a testament to his value. We will miss him, of that I am sure.

    Dumb

This was another DUMB move by Nick. Sure we got Bradley, but's the point of having a really good coach without any forwards. Faria is without a doubt gonna help Chicago tremendously. We better gets someone that will seriously "Knock Our Socks Off" because last year, Faria was our only hope of winning a game. Faria was being paid TOO low for his services, and now we'll have to use a SI on a 100K+ player that might not do anything, given our history of <sarcasm>great internationals</sarcasm>.

Our defense better improve drastically, because right now I'm predicting blow out games versus the Fire. Faria, Razov, Wolff (if he's healthy), Stochkov, is too much for a scrappy defense too handle.

Faria scored a total of 20 goals with the two seasons he has been with us and in last seasons playoffs against the Galaxy 3 Goals. So in total 23 for two seasons.

I agree that 1/2 the time he missed the net, but the other 1/2 he nailed the back of the net. He busted his ass to score and win for Metro. I will miss him, but to those who are bashing him, fook you. If it wasn't for Faria last season when Clint went down with the ACL injury, Valencia & Comas sucking wind there would have been no playoffs last season.

We are down two forwards, who do I think can push up to the forward spot now? I think Brad Davis can do the job, and put Andy Williams behind Davis & Clint to distribute the ball. If we do get Eske's son Alecko he should sub into the match.

But if Bradley sees that Alecko is ready to start, then it looks like Davis can move back into the midfield. Midfield and the defensive line should be very interesting next season just to see what we have, that includes who else we draft or pick up in Senior International Spots.

The thing is, we fans may not have seen any players on the Metros play up to their full potentional for an entire season, the past few seasons. Hopefully, and the whinning, the back-biting, and the behavioral problems will be addressed by Bradley.

The ONLY thing I liked about Faria is that for being the most fouled player on the team, he was rarely out on injuries.
[sarchasm]That's a great reason to keep a player on a professional football team. A striker that works his ass off, but can't get the ball in the net and can't connect on passes.[/sarchasm]

Sorry to sound callous, but just having heart is fine if you're in high school. (...but I tried,..)
At this level and at his age, when he is being fed some great passes, he should have hit the back of the net much more often than he did.

Half!? Are you only counting Penalty Kicks?
Faria missed much more than half his shots. If he really made half his shots, we would be celebrating our second consecutive MLS Cup.

Another misguided soul has probably never played or watched soccer before a couple of years ago.

FARIA WAS OUR LEADING SCORER OF THE PAST TWO YEARS YOU IDIOTS.

Watch any league in the world and tell me how many world class strikers convert half their chances? None.

I can't believe some of the comments on these boards. I don't know if it is stupidity or a total lack of appreciation. As pointed out by others, Faria scored goals. Often he scored goals that were created by his own effort, and often he scored when he had no help from the other forward. He completely carried the team into the playoffs one season, and he did all of this while being severely underpaid (even after they doubled his salary to $48,000).
If people want to say that he missed the net too much, then they should realize that we often had no other options, and blame OZ. It's not like Faria was missing the net while superior forwards sat on the bench, healthy and ready to go.

And your point is? Any other foward in this league would have done the same, and converted his chances much more often. Being the leading scorer on a losing team is like having a 4.0 GPA in special ed classes.

You are a fool. Really there is no other explanation. We had other forwards at the time if you hadn't noticed and they have not scored anywhere near as much as Faria. Are you saying that the midfiled has been serving him so many balls he had to score a few of them? Thats another moronic assertation. We haven't had a decent midfielder ever. Wwe have never had a #10. We have gone through 10's of strikers since 96 and guess what. Not one of them had production like Faria did in his two years here. These were Faria's first two professional seasons and he might have been the most prolific striker we have ever had. But according to fools like you his 23 goals weren't enough, he should have had more like 85 which would make him the greatest scorer the world has ever known.

If it wasn't for Faria, we would have finished at the bottom of the table two years in a row. I am sad to see him go. That being said, we did have to give up quality to get quality and it gives Bob Bradley a chance to build the team in the mold he likes.

One question is in my mind though. How does Bob feel about letting Faria go? Would he have given Faria for compensation or would he have given the #2 draft pick?

Damns, this place is harsh. The guy scores that many goals when there is no one in command of the midfield for most of the season and you all say you are glad he is gone? He cost 48K, scored 23 goals in 2 years and you say 'see ya". Obviously the biggest issue over the 7 years has been coaching and it is worth it to get Bradley, but show some respect.

Thanks Rodrigo. Not good luck. Especially against us.

Parcells and Bellichick didn't care about the picks the Pats and Jets had to give up as compensation to get them, so I don't see him losing any sleep about losing Faria either.

I wonder though....would the Fire have taken the deal if we had offered the #5 pick instead of parting with Faria? This way, we still get a chance to get Eski with the #2 pick and keep Faria (as a starter or off the bench).
