Jonathon Spector is listed under Man U.'s first team (along with a few other reserves, not Cooper though) and has been given the #40 shirt. Has he always been listed on the first team roster or is this a new development?

I recall somebody pointing this out about a month or so ago. Can't remember which thread.

Yeah, he was given that when he arrived. I recall he also was named a Champions League altnernate, but I could be mistaken.

With Silvestre and Ferdinand both out, and Wes Brown's recurring injury, do you think there's any chance we'll see Spector on the first team? I can't imagine it for any Champions League matches, but perhaps an EPL fixture against a lower ranked team, just to give the guys more time to heal. Is it feasible? Is he at the top of the reserve pecking order?

Me personally, I don't imagine he's ready - at least from what I saw during the U-17 WC, but who knows how he's progressed since then. Desperate circumstances require desperate measures...

It's been that way for a while. It's kind of weird, I'm pretty sure Cooper plays with the reserves more than Spector, and neither has played with the first team.

I don't think so, there is a chance, but there are some other players who can play in the backline who are either on the frist team or who are constants on the reserve team. If he was consistantly playing on the reserves, than I would give it more of a shot, but I think it would be too much of a jump at this moment.
