Re: Donovan named to Confed Cup roster

Landon we knew would be gone to the Confed, but we could have also lost Richard. As it is, we'll be down one...one very important one...player while other teams are losing up to 2 or 3 players.

With all of the injuries and the very shallow bench, Richard's disappointment is the Quakes gain.

    Read all about it!

Well after a brief analysis, I could read into the numbers and see that the Bruce doesn't think to highly of the individual talents on our Quakes. Lando was the only call-up, Richie is listed as an alternate.

    But look at this:
    3 for the Fire
    3 for the MetroStars
    3 for the Crew
    2 for DC United
and only one for the Quakes, Rapids, Revolution, Galaxy and the Wizards.
Dallas got the big donut hole.

Perhaps Arena is a fan of the Quakes and wants to give us all advantage, when we play against the depleted teams we should have a much better go. Arena could also be aware of our depth and recognize that this tournament is not terribly important and not worth crushing our rankings.

    Who knows??

Joey will get even more bench time in Europe! But good for him all the same.

This is great news for the Quakes, even if it's not so great for Richard.

    Callup for the USMNT

Its funny that arguably the 2 best teams (SJ and NE) only had 1 callup each, yet the Fire, Metros and Crew had 3. Not suprising though based on past callup patterns.

    I love it!

Please please please Landon pull a hamstring to stay and recover miraculously so we can whoop upon MLS for a month.

Yeah, what's wrong with IBT? Good disease, I'd say.

I don't mind that they're not calling-up Richard (only as an alternate.) That's better for us. We could use all the defensive help we can get since we won't be getting a lot of offense while Landon is gone...

Earthquakes and Revs are the best teams with only one player called up because they play as a team in MLS. Its not all about the 3 players that get called into the US camp.

I don't know if I'd call it a good disease ... having to read "The Welsh are queers" with every one of his posts makes me sick, though.

Didn't say that he had a complete recovery, however. With someone like that, the recovery process is slow.

Agreed. That signature should be pulled--period.
What's next...monkey chants when Beasley flys down the wing today? Racism and hatred are not needed to put the passion into the game either on the "pitch" or in the stands.

Oh, I think you have other Quakes and Rev players that you could argue are nats quality, but for one reason or another they were passed up while borderline guys (imho) like Cunningham and Armas were taken. I dont mind though, personally Id rather see these Quakes with the club next month.
