http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=1632545.html Part 1 of a two-part FIFA.com interview; part 2 to follow tomorrow. Donovan talks LA Galaxy and national team, and surprises few of us at BigSoccer by "revealing" that he's half-Canadian.
some other/similar comments on the MLS site: Donovan prepared for fight to win back starting role for US
I like that he knows he has to fight to get back into the lineup; he's not just waltzing back onto the team after having had to miss so much. A "fighting" Landon is good for us.
Ditto. And frankly, he sounds super excited to be back. We are Galaxy fans, but he just might need a break from the monotony of bad form and losing. EDIT: And a third article from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/soccer/post/_/id/16637/donovan-i-have-to-go-and-prove-myself
Part 2 - essentially an Everton love fest: http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=1632547.html
Funny. When I saw the thread's title, I thought, "and what is 'the vision's' name?" I have spent too much time recently inundated by UK tabloid media I guess.
That kid, in the background, at the top left of the pic is creepy as she's just looking in on the group. And if that's Grant Wahl next to Ives he's looking Friedel-esque if I must say! Almost did a double take.
Thing is, of all the players taken by JK to the first qual games, LD is the only one with no direct backup. The two were Graham Zusi and Daniel Williams. Both were cut. Everybody else, even Deuce, got a direct replacement (in Dempsey's case, Herc Gomez in the 4-4-2 and Joe Corona in the 4-3-1-2). Landon is the only guy to play RW/RM, and if he must be replaced, whoever does it will have to come from another area.
