Re: It's Official: Our Newest YA is LD

It is truly stunning the depth and breadth of overseas US players now compared to past years, especially at high levels and with good teams.....this year has been an off the charts explosion..

I think Landon is going to do very well...

I love how everyone races to be the first to post info that we all know is coming at a specified time. There are several threads already with this info and the call hasn't even started.

be prepared to be screamed at for using words like "stunning", "explosion", "depth" and "brea(d)th". There are plenty of people here in our own camp who denigrate every advancement we make.

Heh. "They said that if I don't like it there, if I hate it there, they'll do whatever it takes to make me happy".

    Boy, he sounds thrilled.

Yes, it sounds like he is going to have Bayer Leverkusen on trial.

I didn't know he was sponsored by a banana company.

He said he thinks the move will be good for the national team! Has he been reading what BS posters have been talking about for years?

    Hail, hail East Germany
    Land of fruit and grape
    Land where you'll regret
    If you try to escape

No matter if you tunnel under
Or take a running jump at the wall
Forget it, the guards will kill you
If the electrified fence doesn't first

I hope he's settling back about now to watch his boys play Real Madrid. They just showed the locker room, btw. Really does give you chills to watch the rogues gallery. Plus, and this is nice, they seal every player locker (team shirt promeniently displayed _ behind plastic wrap before games. So, he misses out on playing Real SC but might get a shot at Real M. Not a bad swap. Too bad he couldn't move tonight.

I gotta say (and I sometimes criticize others for being pre-emptive on 'reading' comments) but I am a bit stunned that Donovan is still using these.....well...."immatur-ish" descriptions of what life can be like.

Shut up already. Suck it up. Turn the page. Look at it in a new light. Stay positive. Quit whining.

I am starting to wonder, if indeed, he has the fortitude to do (as well as his skills could allow him). Hopefully, this is the 'last go round' with this kindof silly venting about the situation (although I though he'd be well over it by now)..

Just get on with it Landon. You'll be making great money and living in Europe. That's cool. Get over the past.

Leverkusen kicking off with one up front, berbatov, and they're running Madrid pretty well. He's moving to a team that is capable of some really beautiful football, no doubt about it.

Still probably Val Kilmer's best performance.

Amen, he is going to Germany for christ sake not a third world prison. These comments are unfortunately very stereotypically "American" things to say. Suck it up, learn and appreciate a new culture and relish the fact that your playing for one of the more storied clubs in Europe. If viewed as a positive I feel it will be just that, on the other hand if Donovan keeps up this attitude than this could be a potentially counter-productive thing for his career.

I kind of think that he doesn't sound ambitious enough about his move to BL. I hope he was just trying to be humble in the conference call because I hope he has set for himself higher goals as a player now that he is going to move to a more competative club.

I'm not a homer, and not a big LD fan, But come on guys, he's making the move, just like BS members have been on him to for a couple years. Making the move shows the ambition. Let's allow him the chance the fail deciding he has.

Once got me a job. Couldn't believe I used it, but left in kilmer's debt.
Not to jump too far ahead, but Bl is looking good tonight. They're gonna survive the CL group phase.

Sufferin' crap. When I first read your post, I thought you were joking -- but there it is: "They have assured me that it is not prison I'm going back to." Unreal.

Kindof funny that the World Rivalries guys think Landon is crap...

But lo and behold, the team that has basically offered Landon 70-80% time on the pitch (not my words, but those of the GM...pretty unprecedented) is kicking/has kicked Real Madrid's ass over these 2 legs in a competition which Real Madrid is taking extemely seriously....

Yeah, this Landon kid must suck... :) No way he could hold some of the English Nat teammers ballsack..

Who plays on Real Madrid anyway? Lemme think here.....
