Ribery just tried to put in himself and shot it wide

Gomez, Helmes and Keissling are knocking on the NT's door. Podolski does not want to loose his starting spot there either.

Perhaps Landon should request that he return to the LA Galaxy now, so he can be with his teammates for preseason a little longer. Podolski playing over him is a clear sign that he is not wanted.

Still creating chances - BM just needs to keep the pressure up and get Bremen a little tired.

I think its important to remember that coaching a club and coaching a national team are pretty vastly different animals. Klinsmann might be better suited to the latter.

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that the Podolski sub means no Donovan today:

    1) Donovan for Podolski is unlikely as the German Pole will probably get a full half.
    2) Donovan for Klose is unlikely because it's Klose.
    3) I haven't seen Donovan play anywhere but up top for Munich.
    4) I can't remember seeing Munich play with three strikers this season.

Just speculating here; of course I hope it's wildly inaccurate.

Nice play by Franck to backtrack. Good tackle by DiMichelis

Lets just wait for the next 2 subs...that will definitely tell a bigger story.

Ribery playing like this would be perfect for Donovan. Every time he has played Bayern has lacked creativity and Ribery was in a slump. Ribery's creativity remains the best chance Donovan has at scoring a goal. And of course, Podolski gets the nod.

True. But it's also important to remember that coaching a HOST COUNTRY that doesn't have to worry about qualification to boot is a vastly different animal to having to put together a team while fighting for its qualification life. Klinsmann is unproven, and I was saying that since jump street.

Donovan could come in for Altintop. Or, come in for Z and Altintop moves to Z's position.

He used to bug the crap out of me back in the days when Dish Network still had GolTV. Don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.

I was not really advocating on behalf of Klinsman for the US now or at the time. Just pointing out to those saying "See, klinsman sucks" that struggling at a club like Bayern [or say scolari at chelsea] doesn't necessarily mean that a guy wouldnt be an ideal fit for a national team.

Only problem there is that I'm not sure they trust Donovan playing midfield in a 0-0 game. Not that he can't but hasn't been asked to so far in BM system.

I think in his first game Donovan played "right wing" in name.
