Re: Donovan at EA That's actually rather telling of the psychology of average American sports fans, who like to see their sports stars as "larger than life", which in their eyes usually translates into near-seven-foot basketball players or 350-pound football linemen or whatever. They don't seem to want their sports stars having the same physical proportions as them (I think Donovan is 5'8", which is probably just slightly below-average height for American males... but close enough), regardless of how much talent they have in their particular sport. Most soccer players (in the U.S., at least) are around Donovan's height or just a bit taller. I wonder if the G4tv channel will show a glimpse of Donovan and the rest of the athletes in its eventual E3 special? GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
well, i'm 6'5" and Donovan will always be a bit "larger than life" to me, but he still looks small on that stage compared to those people he's next to (and the size of the stage).

At E3 they revealed some scenes from the new FIFA 2005. I don't know how many of you play it but the community online for these games is phenomenal. People always creating boots, faces, jerseys, and Stadiums to import into the game. It's great. I'm really just padding my post number so I can get 100, but my post does have some pertinent information.

Re: Donovan at E3 Not DnD, or the Star Trek/anime conventions for that matter. The big video game/multimedia convention. The promo is for online gaming, and if I am right EA just inked a deal with Microsoft in that regard. The custom gaming has been the standard for a long time on the PC. Now, if that can work on a Playstation/Xbox et al people will flock to the game consoles so they have all the latest data to play. Lucky that EA has Landon on their radar. Eventually, the marketers theres may/will want Freddy Adu to be the new video game poster boy. Cheers!
If you can live without the Fifa license, Konami's 'Winning 11' is supposed to be 10X the game. Looking forward to Doom3 coming out this summer, as well as S.T.A.L.K.E.R and a couple others, and I don't really even like FPS.
Re: Donovan at E3 Just wait for next year, though, when Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are all scheduled to release the next generation (256-bit?) gaming consoles - the timing sounds about right, as consoles generally go through 4-5 year cycles. This time around, the new console systems will already have broadband online capability, voice (headset) capability, HDTV compatibility, hard drives, etc. Of course, high-end PC's already have those (I'm sure that the very high-end video cards even have HDTV compatibility). It's cool that Landon is on EA's radar (and perhaps Frederick will be too). Will EA become the San Jose Earthquakes' new I/O (they are relatively-local, after all, though it's still wishful thinking... but one can dream, can't one?)? And the upcoming games for both PC and consoles look pretty sweet! Winning Eleven 7 is ten times better than the fifa series as far as gameplay goes. Now they dont have the Fifa license so the players names are a little off but you can edit everything in the game. I've been playing winning eleven 6 and 7 for the past year and I still see things that I haven't before. The way the ball react's to deflections, challenges, hitting the post, its all so realistic that it creates so many different gameplay aspects. Today's episode of G4tv.com (on the G4tv channel - Channel 136 on Comcast Digital Cable) took place on location from the E3 Expo. Among other things was shown some brief footage of this very EA Xbox live unveiling... and yes, Landon was briefly shown in his Earthquakes jersey as well. Mohammed Ali was the featured guest star on the stage in that footage. If you missed the episode, it'll be rebroadcast throughout the week.
