http://www.itv-football.co.uk/story/0,19239,6145_3728061,00.html Looks like Lippi could return. I seriously hope so.
A team with deep pockets that buys talents from all around italy... ok. Now tell me how any of the players i named would have helped Italy. And i want an indepth analysis to back up your moronic statement. The only guy italy could have used was Iaquinta. And even at that, i doubt he would have done much.
You still dont understand about the winning mentality do you? Juventus taught those players how to win just like Lippi did with an 8 year group of failure players.
Yup I agree the Trap sealed his fate by having Corradi on his national team, the same could be said for the Don with Di Natale mediocrity breeds ineptitude
So says the guy from Philly. Irony score 9.5/10 (and don't take it personally, it's a cut on myself too).
There's a saying in italy "Juventus : 27 scudetti, 2 coppe dei campioni.... in italia ladri, in europa coglioni" But then again there's no convincing a fanboy.
You got me there. I know all about suffering and losing. Maybe the Eagles will win one time before I die but I doubt it.
I know all about that but out of the two who delivered one. The same guy who delivered the world cup.
ahem...thieves....ahem. Did he say something about "winning mentality"? Aside from Buffon and maybe Chiellini in the last game, I didn't see it. But of course, it was all the Don, the Milan, the Inter and the Roma players' fault, correct? Maybe Juve should donate some under the table money to our World Cup campaign...then we can get some refs with the "winning mentality" also.
You will find it quite amusing to hear that Toni is happy with his Euro2008 performance. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun22s.html Well done Toni, you should be, you played 4 full games and managed #0 Goals #2 shots on goal (matching the likes of Panucci and Grosso), #12 shots off target, #missed 20 chances, #made 2 passes during 390 mins of football #committed 11 fouls, much more than any other Italian player, #earned one yellow card. Yep that sure is the performance of a true motivated champion. Thank God he wont be around for much longer.
Toni is getting bashed & wrongly so. They guy was snake bitten, plain & simple. Remember, he got a goal disallowed that should've counted AND drew a PK against France that also gave Italy a man advantage. Even though it was very frustrating not seeing him in form, he did play a big role for Italy's success (what little of it they had anyways).
Funny that you just happen to mention the two best players on the team. By the way mentioning Inter shows what you know.
He was supposed to be the tournament's top scorer. I'm flabbergasted by the statistics that Pirlo_il_maestro put up. Looks more like a defender's tournament summary than a striker's.
again, you prove your stupidity. as forgettable as he's been, Matrix did go along for this Euro and sucked tremendously in game one with the Dutch...remember, the beating? Last time I checked, he was still in Inter, but I could be wrong.... Of course, someone who is so self absorbed in themselves and their thieving club might not remember anyone else on the NT except for their own thieving players. and as for the two best players...Buffon, can't say much about him, he's won me over in the last few years. Chiellini however still has a lot to prove so don't be blowing him just yet. Yes, he played a great game...will he keep it up? Depends how much cash you guys have in your account I guess.
Interestingly, despite Juventus good year in their first year back in the top flight, their defense was criticized more often than not in the Italian press. Still, I think Chiellini however, has quite a future ahead of him in the azzurri camp...
Whar a conflicting contrasting turn of events...I hear if he quits he loses out on $1 million...if he gets fired the FIGC must pay him... Donadoni: "Resign? Not on your life" Italy coach the day after the elimination: "One missed penalty will not change my opinion about the European Cup. I would be a fool if I did" http://english.gazzetta.it/More_sports/Primo_Piano/2008/06_Giugno/23/donadoniconferenza.shtml
Falvo our defense was terrible or at least not what I am used to from Juventus. Chiellini had played some in the center during the season in B but was back at LB at the start of the season. After the Roma game when Totti took Criscito apart and then Andrade got hurt the only move Ranieri could make was to move Chiellini into the center. He stabilized the defense. He also did the same for Italy. I fear though now with these latest rumors that Nesta will come back and we will see Nesta and Cannavaro once again. That would be a mistake because Chiellini is better than both of them at this moment in time.
Let's not jump the gun, the media is going crazy right now trying to stir things up. There is no guarantee that Lippi will return, although we better cross our fingers cause if it's not him it will be Mancini. There is also no real evidence that either Totti or Nesta will return. While I can't speak for Nesta, I'm quite certain that Totti did leave for health reasons. He could hardly play an entire season for Roma this year, and last year he played a lot of games although he was in pain. I genuinely believe that he was honest when he said he couldn't play that many games anymore. Honestly I think Chiellini cemented his place on the senior squad at this Euro. I don't see how in two years time he's going to second string to two aging players.
