Oh my! I should not post in the morning when the brain is not connected. But, I stand by the statement that Belgium has some nice small cities.
Take it from me and @LouisianaViking07/09, it's an understatement. Belgium's small cities are jewels, with excellent food and incredible beer. They're mostly in the Flemish part (Bruges, Ghent, Leuven, etc), but the French-speaking cities, especially Liege, are also well worth a visit . Make a detour and check it out. Take a tour - or a pub crawl
I really enjoyed visiting Namur as a backpacker years ago. It was a nice quiet respite after Amsterdam, Antwerp and Brussels... with a good food market.
