Still at Schalke practice today because... 👍 yup I asked Nick and he told me that Haji needs some paperwork visa related stuff to be permitted to work in the Netherlands. So it's all good, just a slight delay that surprised us here at Schalke practice 😊— Volker Barth (@barthvolker) July 15, 2019
Actually it's a 45 million British pounds signing. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...astien-haller-west-ham-good-business-transfer
According to this site he's being hired from Schalke: https://www.elfvoetbal.nl/Binnenland/276600/Even-voorstellen-De-nieuwe-spitsen-in-de-Eredivisie "Haji Wright komt op huurbasis over van Schalke 04. De Amerikaans jeugdinternational speelde het afgelopen seizoen al zeven wedstrijden in de Bundesliga en was zelfs trefzeker." "Haji Wright comes over from Schalke 04 on a rental basis. The American youth international played seven games in the Bundesliga last season and was even scoring."
POW, Wright in the Venlo: Haji @ VVVV. https://www.fupa.net/berichte/sv-straelen-starker-auftritt-des-neuen-sv-straelen-2428184.html "Tristan Dekker and Christian Kum watched the duel from the stands, Haji Wright, new signing from FC Schalke 04, was not yet eligible to play."
I’m pretty sure I read on bs that Germany doesn’t allow loans in the last year of a contract. Are there any experts on the German rules we can @ to get an answer?
that does seem to be the rule in Germany. It's why all players who go on loan with 1 year to go, the clubs are forced to extend the contract. as for Wright, very likely has a buyback clause. Majority of clubs don't let players go freely that easily without getting something out of it. Although who knows in a year or 2, if Wagner is still there or not or if their interest lie elsewhere.
FYP. Wright spent two seasons at Schalke and impressed nobody with anything except his, ahem, "marked economy of effort". Buyback clauses are for players you want to keep because, while they're not quite ready, you're sure they will be and you want that to happen with you. However, the lad wants starts and wants them today, so he leaves but you put in the buyback clause in expectation as much as in hope: eg Nathan Ake or Gerard Deulofeu. That's not Haji. He's done at Schalke. If he is going to Venlo on loan, it's because the German rule we're talking about doesn't exist (yet), doesn't apply to loans outside the German pyramid or (perhaps) any contract extension has a clause making it voidable based on payment of a financial penalty.
eh, Schalke last Summer purposefully renewed the expiring 2019 contract of a player who was leaving in Summer until 2020 just to have a buyback on him. In fact good chunk of 99 players who left the club last Summer have a buyback. he's not on loan to VVV, he left Schalke.
Starts vs Eindhoven and logs an assist in the 21st minute. 21. Een minuut later slaagt de actie van Wright wel! Een geweldige actie van hem via de rechterkant gaat dankzij het been van Opoku het doel in, 1-0!#VVVEIN | 1-0— VVV-Venlo (@VVVVenlo) July 20, 2019 Edit: @BostonRed just beat me to it and, apparently, his translation program is more pro-YA than mine.
Just from a developmental standpoint alone, VVV > Schalke II. Whatever the stakes for the various parties, it is kind of a one and done deal. Either it works or it doesn't. His market value will be determined largely by how well he does in Holland this coming season, because, at the moment, it is essentially the cost of Wright's salary.
