And this will be the best takeaway from the season for Schalke as an organization. Avoiding a relegation disaster from where they ended last year barely counts as an achievement, in my mind. It's amazing that it still seems totally possible that they'll need a result on the last matchday, in a six-pointer, to stay up outright.
Seems a failure on the part of the Schalke administration not preparing well enough for player departure than the guys on the field. They play their hearts out but there is not nearly enough talent.
And Haji is doing that, at least. In 18 games, he's bagged 12 goals and has assists on 5 more in 18 Oberliga games.
It's very important to not have your reserves playing OL ball, but playing in the 3 Liga isn't a priority. The U-23 sides are there for player development, not league success, and keeping a place in D3 can put too much pressure on young squads which may be missing key team mates who are with the pros or have been let go because they weren't going to make it with the pro squad. The solution, of course, is to recruit U-23 players who can keep you there, but then you're recruiting with the reserve side's needs in consideration, instead of a sole focus on the first team. If they get into the 3 Liga? Great. If they get relegated? Disappointing, but now they know what losing feels like and that's good for them mentally.
Former Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner is set to be named as the new Schalke head coach this week, according to Bild. Great appointment, should help them recover next season. #S04— Ronan Murphy (@swearimnotpaul) April 30, 2019 Apparently David Wagner is going to be the coach next season, which should be good news for Haji. As a coach, Wagner is said to be a master motivator, and if anyone needs that it's Haji. HT to @BostonRed

Could be a bit of a US prospect exodus from Schalke: Jones already left; Taitague and Haji could be on their way out.
They were down 1:0 on an early goal. Haji tied it up in the second half and teammate Zahn scored the game winner. Looks like they have two more games to go this season but are a lock to win the mighty Oberliga Westfalen.
No. Even if you buy a ticket and go to a live game they hired the actor that plays “The Mountain that Rides” to gouge our your eyeballs. Very secretive league.
I guess gouging one's eyeballs would be considered a favor. Still, I'm finding it hard to find even a radio stream for these ones. So if anyone know of a way that doesn't involve crossing the Atlantic, please share.
We need to issue a BOLO for Haji, apparently. #S04— Volker Barth (@barthvolker) July 3, 2019 Translation: In the last few days I am always asked what is going on with Haji. #Wright I honestly don't know. He wasn't there at the U23 photo shoot, I haven't seen him at the pros, i've seen him maybe imagine him somewhere else?
yeah he wasn't at the pros. Not surprising if he does leave, only signed until 2020 and hasn't impressed and likely headed for II if he stayed.
Whoa hold on... nobody said he is missing as in they don't know where he is. He just was not seen by me at neither the pro training nor the U23 photo shoot. I want to be perfectly clear on this: he's not disappeared, no breach of contract or anything like that 👍— Volker Barth (@barthvolker) July 3, 2019
Nick posted an instagram story of him and Haji together at the Dusseldorf Königsallee a few days ago. So I mean...he's there somewhere.
Call off the search, Wright has been spotted playing the entire 2nd half for Schalke II as they lost 1-0 to OL club Paderborn II yesterday. 1st team have a friendly today and from 1st half and 2nd half no Wright.
Third division side #tsv1860 are interested in signing #USMNT forward Haji Wright on loan from #S04 (kicker)— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) July 7, 2019
they would have to extend his contract for that 1st. Seems like he might be too expensive for a permanent purchase and a loan is more feasible. guess 1860 sees him as someone to take Owusu's role.
not 3rd Liga but Eredivisie (no club is listed)? https://www.dieblaue24.com/1860/16132-wright-wechsel-nach-holland-wahrscheinlich
