AllWright AllWright AllWright : Haji moving to the Coventry

Discussion in 'Yanks Abroad' started by Chance, Dec 17, 2013.

  1. The ratings go from useless 1 to outstanding 10.
    Grade Description
    10 Excellent
    9 Very good
    8 Good
    7 More than sufficient
    6 Sufficient
    5 Moderate
    4 Insufficient
    3 More than insufficient
    2 Bad
    1 very bad

So 5.5 is moderate to sufficient and 6.5 is sufficient to more than sufficient

So he's "moderate" for one of the Eredivisie's worst sides.

A brief stint in RL to come, followed by a few seasons in USL, though never more than 18 months at any one side. He'll announce his retirement by 30.

I wouldn't wright him off quite so quickly. He's not showing any indication he's going to be an interesting player, but being moderate for a crap Ered team as striker doesn't tell you much.

He seems to have moments - not impossible he finds a little consistency and lives to a fine old soccer age in the Eerste or B2 or Belgium 2nd or something.

To be fair, thats why germans make porsche, mercedes, bmw, audi, and vw. World class matters.

To be doubly fair, usa is the only place where tesla can exist.

Or "good" deflation? In some circles "good" is still a superlative, while many of us have taken "good" to mostly mean "was not bad" or "good enough" - which is really what they mean by sufficient.

8 is almost always a 'good' rating. Regardless of league or team it's pretty rare to see an 8 and you almost never see 9 and 10 unless it's a really exceptional performance.

    Enough of them.

Given his level of performance in, well, any of them you could say I've watched too many.

    A matter of perspective, no?

Like most threads, the bulk of the content or comments here comes from a small number of people who follow this one a lot and post often and pretty directly. For people who drop in occasionally, blunt conclusions formed some time ago could look a lot like douchery.

Then there's the homers, fanboys and outright Bronies. Judging a player's poor output is anti-Yank bias, blindness to great technical ability or Grinch-type cruelty to the poor, suffering genius they've made the vehicle for their dreams. Persistent failure to produce at any decent level is only proof of a chrysalis-like/unappreciated greatness that only the enlightened (i.e. they) can even begin to appreciate.

You're obviously from the first category.

    Aren't you?

Correct, i dont watch his games. I do however check for pbp, where i have not seen you post.

Maybe i read too much into your cynisism, but the post is douchebaggy. He is in europe, trying his best. He could go back tomorrow to mls, if he wanted. I expect more support from ya, posters and not troll posts from a guy playing on a relegation team.

In the timeless wisdom of Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try". So far, he's been doing a lot of trying and not much doing. Given his production in the leagues he's been in, it's not like there's a guarantee that if he tries to play in MLS he'll be successful.

  20. To be honest I from time to time see him doing something that makes me think is there more of that in you and somehow doesnot get out.

Glad to hear it. Hopefully your eyes don't deceive and Haji is very close to making the breakthrough he needs, and that he's able to do it.

I think we all hope for the best for each and every Yank chasing their dreams domestically or overseas. I haven’t written Wright off but one does have to acknowledge that he has only had professional success in the 4th division semi-pro in germany to date. He has struggled in Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and the Netherlands. Hopefully he can stick it out. As you said there is always MLS where somebody may take him on As a flyer or give Him a look as a bench/depth/rotation option much like VVV has. Fingers crossed he starts scoring goals and we can return to the sunshine pumping on his career.
