I got ya now 80Ball, and sorry for misunderstanding earlier. But you have to admit, playing the DR in the World Cup would be on a different level. It's the biggest competition our national team can play in; and given that only one team will survive from the group, we won't be able to take any game lightly, especially if we draw the short straw and end up with Guatemala as the second team in our group. Under that sort of pressure and exposure, I bet a "rivalry" atmosphere would blossom in the series.
It would certainly get the attention of any Dominican soccer fans here in the US. I'm hoping he can make that move.
Apparently Guzman invited Tempete FC (Haitian league champions since 2008, recently made the prelims of the CONCACAF Champions League) to play two friendlies against the DR.
They also had a friendly against Avila University, which they won 5-0. Domingo Hernandez said that they were trying to get a couple of matches against Haiti and a match against Cuba sometime after August 20th. I hope that we can get a few of those matches, it'd be great to get some chemistry going into the match with El Salvador. I wish that the Dominican Federation were a bit more public about what they're doing to prepare for the next round. There seemed to be absolutely no media coverage of the friendly against AU (usually Dominican football blog balompiedominicano would have posted more info on it).
Looks like the DR will be playing a friendly against Curacao. The Curacao NT is already in the country and the friendly (or rather friendlies as it will be 2 matches) will take place on Saturday. http://www.balompiedominicano.com/2011/08/seleccion-dominicana-de-futbol-en.html

I just wanted to come in and say congratulations on a hell of a game in El Salvador. The team performed well above what my expectations were going into this weekend...and a lot better than Haiti did the last time we went to the Cuscatlan. Good luck against Suriname on Tuesday!
Yeah. Hernandez did a good job of preparing the team for the most part. I would like to see better conditioning from the team though. Too many guys going down with cramps. That's something that happened a lot to Fana before he joined the Islanders.
Does somebody know which Dominican TV-channel will broadcast the match against Suriname next tuesday? Or somewhere where a video / radio stream can be found..
DR lost vs El Salvador, but i think they have what it takes to beat Suriname. rooting for my boy Ubiera!
[LINEUP-3-5-2][/LINEUP-3-5-2] I think he will be suspended for that game after being sent off in el Cuscatlan
You might be right on this,i wouldn't be surprised if the Dominican Republic beats Suriname.Almost everyone espects us to end up second, but we might end up lower.Dominican Republic did some home work, they've did their best to develop their football skills while Suriname did nothing to change their tactics. Suriname makes the same mistakes as it did 4 years ago against El-Salvador,Costa Rica en Haiti. El-Salvador will be the winner, and with a good reason, they have seen and played 2 world cups already and they have built up experience.
Hopefully there will be a good showing. I'm guessing the match is being held in the Panamerican Stadium because Felix Sanchez Stadium isn't up to par? Kinda sad honestly, would be nice for the DRNT to have a stadium with more capacity to hold their matches in.
