DR also knocked out of the Olympic qualifiers. Had beaten St. Lucia 3-0, but lost to Jamaica 0-4. Only the top team of the 3 would advance and that was Jamaica.

Honest question: was Pantoja beating Moca an upset, or am I overrating the latter?

And any word on how many teams you guys are going send to the CFU Club Championship next year?

1, Not really, during the championship Pantoja had beaten Moca in Moca but Moca had beaten Pantoja in Pantoja. The big upset was Ptopta knocking out Bauger FC. Nobody saw that one coming.

2, I have read that both finalists are qualified for the CFU Club Championship 2016

In the 18 game regular season with 10 clubs, Moca was second with 33 points and a +11. Pantoja was third with 31 points and a +5. The Semifinals had two legs and Pantoja won each game 2:1 to win the aggregate 4:2.

The U-15 team is on a roll right in the CFU championship. 3 victories with 9 goals scored and none allowed. They're onto the semi finals. They'll be up against St. Vincent and Grenadines on the 14.

I'm sure many of you know that the Dominican Republic finally has their own professional soccer league. The league consist of 10 first division teams. The winner of the first season was "Deportivo Pantoja". The league has players from many Latin American countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Spain etc. The league's website is www.ldf.com.do . Some of the clubs are: Cibao FC from Santiago de los Caballeros, Atlantico FC from Puerto Plata, Olimpico de la Vega, Delfines del Este, Atletico Pantoja, Barcelona FC, Club Bauger, Moca FC, Atletico San Cristobal and Universidad O&M. During the first season they had good crowds and for the championship game, 10,000 fans showed up at Estadio Olimpico Feliz Sanchez in Santo Domingo.

Out of nowhere its been announced that the DR will have a friendly against Brazil's Olympic team. The match will be in Manaus.

Brazil has already announced their call ups:

Porteros: Ederson (Benefica-POR) y Uilson (Atlético Mineiro) Laterales: Maicon (Livorno), Zeca (Santos), Wendell (Bayer Leverkusen-ALE) y Douglas Santos (Atlético Mineiro). Zagueros: Marlon (Fluminense), Lucao (Sao Paulo) y Dória (Granada-ESP)y Rodrigo Ely (Milan-ITA). Centrocampistas: Lucas Silva (Olympique de Marsella-FRA), Rodrigo Caio (Sao Paulo), Fred (Shaktar Donetsk-UCR), Walace (Gremio), Felipe Anderson (Lazio-ITA) y Valdívia (Internacional). Delanteros: Kenedy (Chelsea-ENG), Vitinho (Internacional), Gabriel Jesus (Palmeiras), Luan (Gremio), Gabriel (Santos) y Vinícius Araújo (Cruzeiro). EFE

For the DR so far the only known call ups are Edipo Rodriguez and Luis Miguel Quezada.

    ------------------------------------------

There are also rumors that Aleix Gibert Buxeda, of FCBEscolaDR, will be taking over the MNT.

The BBC is reporting that FIFA's Ethics Committee has voted to "provisionally suspend" President Sepp Blatter for a period of 90 days pending further investigation.

Time now to also suspend one of his partners in crime

So most of the ''presidentes de asociaciones'' did not even finish high school and do not have a regular job. So they gladly sell their souls to Osiris for 5,000 rds per month (111 dollar).

The Dominican Republic will play against Barbados and Curaçao in late March in the first round of the Caribbean Cup. They have to avoid last place to make Round 2; for my money, beating Barbados will be key.
